  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Being joyful doesn't always coincide with being happy. Happiness is based on our "happenstance". We can be joyful even we were aren't particularly happy (or content) with our circumstances.

I saw this comment on my S.A.D. thread and it peaked my interest. What is the difference between joy and happiness?

So fellow singles' any thoughts?

I hope I can find the words to explain what I am trying to express. :)

Happiness is dependent on our emotions. When things are going our way, we are happy. When we get what we want, we are happy. However, when we have a bad day, we aren't so happy. Joy on the other hand is something that we can experience no matter how our emotions are telling us to feel. I can be happy and joyful. I can be sad but yet joyful. I can be angry but yet joyful. Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. Happiness is not. I can rejoice (a form of joy) regardless of what is going on in my life. Yes it may be hard sometimes and I may not want to, but the love and grace of God allows me to do so.

In life I may not always be happy, but I can be filled with the joy of the presence and love of God. The best way I can describe it is in this quote from Job:

Job 1:21-2121 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Job sure wasn't happy. He had lost his livestock, his servants, and his children. But yet he still could praise God. That is joy.

Happyness I think of being enthusiastic.
Joy Something that gives great pleasure or satisfaction.

This is the best way to describe for me.

Thinking the same thing!!

Joy is what God gives us when we are very close to Him and nothing else matters like He does. Joy is when I feel Gods presence and fullness as if I were in heaven. Psalms "The JOY of the Lord is my strength & in YOUR presence is FULLNESS of Joy."

Happiness is what I feel when things go well on this earth, a nice holiday, a sunny day, a relationship. Happiness is quite close to joy and important in our lives.
