  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I like school actually but I am SO HAPPY it's done for the year!!! I need this summer vacation.
Something to consider; why would you need a vacation from something you love? I mean a week off is one thing, three months is different.
More importantly, why do you love school, is it because you're learning cool stuff, or is it more because of the social aspect?
Do you feel that school is preparing you for the real world?
Since obviously you're in school, I have to ask, what do you want to do when you graduate? And please don't say go to college, that's just more school. What I'm asking is, what do you want out of life?
Take from school what you can get, but question everything, and know that it is not a thorough education. Ask any of us old timers you know if the most important things they learned were things learned in school. My guess is everyone will say no. That should tell you, there's much more to life and learning than you will get from school.

I feel public school is to train you for the social side of life. You learn the code of conduct, if you will, for how to associate.

Knowledge can only be gained by an open, and willing mind.
Forever will you only learn what you want to learn.

Enjoy your summer break. :)

To get some badly needed sleep, for starters. :D My doctor said I'm in a growth spurt & need to be getting a lot more sleep than I have lately. May in particular was crazy busy & stressful. I really love music too & was working very hard on being prepared for my certification exams. I had to prep for them on top of taking AP exams & final exams + starting my job. My vacation isn't for three months, not even close! I have a couple of weeks that are free, that's all. Even it's not totally free bc I have a job. This is the 1st day in a while that I haven't had a shift.

No, I don't love school just for the social aspect. I go to an online school for gifted kids that's run by one of the best colleges in the entire world. I love it so much, but it's extremely intense! I just finished the 10th grade but I was taking classes most people don't take until way into college. I love it bc I love learning. I love improving myself. I love my teachers & most of the kids in my classes. The cool thing about online school is that we have a lot of meet ups in the summer so there's actually way more social stuff now than during the school year.

I want to work in CS but I'm not sure of the specifics yet. Heck yes my school is definitely preparing me for a real world job. What do you mean that you're an old timer? Like a senior or college student? This is the kids only section so that's why I'm not sure what you mean.
