Hi there,

So yes Revelation 20:1 talks about an angel with the key to the pit. The reason he is able to chain the Devil is that the Devil refuses the weight of the cross, not having the key to the sign that is on it. Without the weight of the cross, he cannot escape the weight of Hell, which is heavier again, than the world.

So what the Devil tries to do, is drag as many people as he can, into the pit. His strategy is to make God regret having given people a choice between Heaven and Hell. For this reason, when he is bound, he is chief of the sinners bound by the snare that came upon the world - to the end that the choice not be ignored (the choice between Heaven and Hell).

If the Devil had taken the weight of the cross, he would have been able to keep the choice in mind (the choice between Heaven and Hell), because by the weight of the cross, the meaning of most things can be discerned. The weight of Hell on the other hand, is too great to be lifted through the pit to where Heaven begins. This will leave the Devil with no option but to have all embrace the pit and by that commit to war with God, whatever light He reveals.

This then is the preparation of the army, which will go to war with the Sun - the spiritual apocalypse. Their intent will be to sting with the tail (as Revelation says), that is to sting with the evidence of their having been in the pit, as their tail shows they are not strong enough to escape, though their body may reach a newer Earth. But then, as the bible says "the child will play near the cobra's den" (Isaiah 11:8), those that had been in the pit with the Devil (may we all pray to escape that pit and be found worthy) will not have enough sting to truly war (with the Sun) - so the Devil will have to work hard to developing poison again.

Thanks for your time.

The angles who sinned none were able to repent and there fate was sealed at that time. Your whole argument ignores that Satan is only bound for 1000 years and then released and he gets to deceive the world again. The final end is after he is released and the kingdom age on earth draws to an end he gathers an army and surrounds Jerusalem and fire comes down from heaven and that is it. Why is he released at the end of the 1000 years? It is all coming out as prophesied.

The Greek word for one thousand, actually means "at least one thousand".

There are some that say it means thousands instead. It seems to me then, in Revelation 20, if some are correct about what thousand means in that context, it seems to mean it can mean any number other than a thousand itself. What does it mean if it does mean a thousand itself, as in exactly 1000? Would it not mean Premil has to be the correct position then? It is no wonder some can't have it meaning exactly 1000 then at any cost.
