  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I wrote this novelette, The Dead Priest’s Dagger, for a writing prompt. I part of a Writing group called The Write Connection at our local library. We met once a month for several years at least till Covid-19 made this impossible. During one of these meetings our leader gave us each a chance to name a item, person or season. In the end we came up with the following list (as best I remember them):

- Cassandra Gianchi
- A disheveled man wearing ragged or unkempt clothing
- A museum
- Archaeology
- A mouse
- A cat or dog
- Sometimes in the spring or fall
- A cliff hanger

I was the only one who used this prompt and Chapter 1 of this novelette was what I brought in. Everyone I read that chapter to wanted to know what happened to Cassandra and what Albert would do with his three pets to solve the case.

Of course I made each chapter end with a cliff hanger at least to the end, so one chapter led to the next and the next and before I knew it I’d written my first novelette. This is the origin of this story. I hope those here will enjoy this as much as those in our writing group did.
