So life came to be with no purpose. It just happens to be what happened
Maybe. How would that impact the way YOU live your life?
It would affect me the same way that that the universe having been created by the Titans would - not at all. I don't need threats of damnation to not act like scoundrel. Do you?

Australian and atheist aren't synonyms. What's this got to do with atheists?
This is a standard 'bag of tricks' thing among the creationists. Most of them appear to follow a script of some sort, and will dutifully if mindlessly churn out claims like this so as to make their strange beliefs in Hebrew deities seem morally superior (and thus correct).
It is a sign of not having anything of merit or value to put forth.

They have always said there's a difference between science and historical science.
That is how they avoid having to admit that they cannot address evolution scientifically.
It's no surprise many support taking the vaccine.
Are you an epidemiologist? Immunologist? Virologist? Or just someone that listens to Fox?
I never claimed I didn't believe in science. But I don't believe the earth is 4.5 billion years old. How old is it? No one knows
Evidence provides an answer. You not accepting it is evidence that you do NOT, in fact, 'believe in' science.

Do they say conclusively absolutely without question the earth is 4.5 billion years old?
What is the evidence that the Hebrew deity conclusively absolutely without question created the earth from nothing 6-10000 years ago and formed the first human from dust of the ground?
Or do you employ double standards?

What is your scientific evidence that the things you just asserted are conclusively absolutely without question true?

I don't know. I'm not arrogant enough to think that I do know
Yet you seem arrogant enough to "know" conclusively absolutely without question that your favored deity created a full grown man from dust a few thousand years ago.

Odd how often that attitude shows up on forums like this.

Why do I have to be an epidemiologist, Immunologist or Virologist to take the vaccine? And I believe in science but I'm skeptical about some of it. Everyone else on here says there are no absolutes but you're telling me I must accept all the science as absolute truth.

I didn't say you can't be skeptical of creation or reject it but if I'm skeptical of the science that can't be allowed

I said what if God made the earth that way? I didn't say absolutely without question.

I never said that or asserted any such thing

Life forming. Or is this still happening?

Ah ok.
There's several things to consider.
Start with some basic organic chemistry.

Complex organic molecules are known to form
spontaneously under a wide range of naturally occurring
conditions. Including amino acids on comets.
No organic molecules are assembled " by hand" in a lab, they
occur when the conditions are set.

Nobody knows what conditions existed on earth when life started.
But, given 330,000,000 cubic miles of ocean, many millions
of years, incredible fantasticatillion carbon, nitrogen owygen
and hydrogen atoms and ions, the speed withwhich
reactions occur, its not unreasonable to suppose
that anything that can happen will happen.

A fairly simple self replicating molecule ( there are
such things) would be a good start on life.
And, there being no bright line distinction between
life and non life, theres nobody to say at what point
a self reproducing structure is life, or not - yet life.

Today? Who knows. Nobody has happened upon lab
conditions that led to life.
Out there in the ocean? Any proto- life would not
stand a chance of developing, with all the hungry
microbes out there ready to eat it. Remember your
amoeba etc from high school biology?

And, of course, it would be extraordinarily difficult
to go out there and find your new forms, get them back to
a lab and identify them.

That is what many atheists appear to believe. Theists, on the other hand, believe in a creator who imbues life with purpose. The science is the same in either case.
