Psalm 116 I love the Lord, because He hears
My voice and my supplications.
2 Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.
3 The cords of death encompassed me
And the [a]terrors of Sheol [c]came upon me;
I found distress and sorrow.
4 Then I called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I beseech You, [d]save my life!”

5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
Yes, our God is compassionate.
6 The Lord preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.
7 Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

I love to meditate on peace. I went through many years of stress, depression, and anxiety. Then there is political and theological dissension which i find to be restless and a bit disturbing. No peace in none of that. So im thankful to the Lord for peace. Something i will never take for granted.

Pride.
AKA: Flatterers
AKA: Smooth talkers
AKA: Frenemies

Pride. It is sometimes quite evident and visible. Sometimes not. Perhaps the most insidious form of it is the more "subtle" kind, that is known as "humble-bragging". This is perhaps the more nauseating form of "pride", because of the slyness of the attempt to "fish" for praise, accolades, and "compliments", and yes, even "flattery". Ad nauseam.

It (flattery) is described in God's Word as a "weapon" of the enemy that is "treacherous" and "deadly".

"For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive." ~Rom 16:18

The enemy is a tricky ol' devil, ain't he? He knows man's weakness, because it is, and has been, his own Achilles Heel. It was the very sin that rose up in him as he attempted to de-throne God, and to be "as God" and to be worshiped.

The very same sin that was the fall of Adam and Eve, and thus the downfall of man. The very same sin that is the root of evil that ushered in the curse and death itself.

"Whoever hates, disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart; when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart; though his hatred be covered with deception, his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly. Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling. A lying tongue hates its victims, and a flattering mouth works ruin." ~Pr 26:24-28

First of all; Thanks for this whole post, it was very interesting to read. Much good information.

The reason I just put that little part of the quote over there is because I love the written accent you use. Is this how you speak as well? Is this southern american english style?

LOL! I have a variable dialect, and yes, i speaks this way in real life. I also throw in some New Yawk accenting here n' there, amongst other things.

I know. It just made me chuckle because i never even know myself what is going to come out of my mouth. I once did a "weather report" over the phone to a friend and it was sorta' a southern-ish drawl and we both were rollin'.

I Love listening to southern-ish accent! Same way as I Love listening to Scottish accent! Just something really appealing over it!
