The cross is God's gift to man. It is the way to eternal life; the way to full pardon from every sin; the way to a new life and a walk with God.
But we have made it a gleaming symbol, an ornate work of art, gracing our alters with its presence. Our religious instincts have driven us to bend before it, to honor it.
The cross is an instrument of execution; it was a place of pain and shame; it was bloody! WHY DID HE?? He who was perfect, spotless, sinless, have to die on the cross?
We forget! The reason has become all but lost in the exercises of religion. Let us remember always the meaning of the cross and why God gave it as a gift to all who believe.
