there was only sunday night left and the live fight tues.it wasn't ever cancelled.its just over..with the death of the one boxer, and the quit of the other the show was pretty much having its set backs but Sly did a good job putting it together. I wanted alfonso to go all the way,but since peter beat him out..Peter all the way.Sergio second choice. Jessie--go home

Congratulations to Sergio... good win!

Parts of the show were unintentionally funny. I laughed after Alfonso and Jessie's fight when the ring annoucer said, "and the results are in at The Contender Arena!" Um... we're at Caesars's Palace, dummy...

I also laughed when Sylvester Stallone gave Sergio the Contender Belt. "Congratulations, Sergio! Here's your.... belt!" I'm pretty sure Sergio was more concerned about the million bucks.

Seriously, though - are those of you who watched the show boxing fans? If not, did the show make you want to see more boxing matches?

I didn't even notice the announcer's mistake, and I thought I was the only one who thought Sly's Belt presentation with funny!

I actually had no interest in boxing whatsoever before the show, and now I actually would watch other matches. Never thought that would happen!

yes i love boxing and have a nephew already doing state comp. i was unsure how this would play out as being "rigged" but the fighting stood for itself.peter just didn't hold up,liked them both but my heart was with sergio our california boy to win what he deserved. I WANT A REMATCH ASAP :)

Yeah, the only fighter I found it hard to like was Anthony Bonsante. Even Ahmed Khammour's cockiness had a certain charm to it, but what Anthony did (using his kids as an excuse to take the path of least resistance) was pretty cheap. Plus, in his fight with Ishe Smith yesterday, he was docked 1 point for pushing Ishe down and 2 points for picking Ishe up over his shoulder. Very unprofessional, and it will probably damage his career.

I'd like to see a Mora-Manfredo rematch, too, but I'm not sure if it's because I really want to see one or if it's because Sylvester Stallone said the word "rematch" about 50 times and hypnotized me into believing I want to see one... While an eventual rematch would be nice, I'm looking forward to seeing Sergio, Peter and Alfonso spread their wings in the professional ranks and make some noise. Once Alfonso moves back down to his natural weight (the 147 lb Welterweight division), I think he can be in some interesting matchups.

I totally agree, I wanted to like Anthony, but he made it really hard with his bad attitude and sneakiness. I have to admit I loved when Jesse came back in the last round of their fight with a knockout!

I wondered if I was the only one who noticed that, it drove me crazy!!! I was like "why don't we just get through this fight and then think about rematches!
