Firstly, by looking into the Book of Enoch and the OT one sees that God has controversies with the wicked rulers and principalities of this present age, who are set over this earth, and who rule from the heavenlies. They are called by many names, including but not limited to: "those who hold the earth/pillars of the earth; judges/the Dan; sons of God/elohym; principalities and powers; sons of God; Watchers; and Elohym".
The book sealed with seven seals is most likely the record of their wicked doings against God's people, which, when opened, begins their judgment, and which is that time of the tribulation of the last days which Enoch prophesied of, and called "the second consummation of sin on earth". It concludes with the complete removal of the branches above and the roots beneath, of the rulers of darkness, who were set over earth and who "hold the earth".
In Enoch's dream visions, in chapter 89, the record of the doings of the seventy [heavenly rulers] shepherds who receive the namesake people of the New Man name, to pasture in their season, commit atrocities for which they are not judged at the time they do it, but which they will be judged for, when the books recording them are opened.
Before the seventy shepherds receive the nation of Israel, divided among themselves, to rule over them for the appointed seasons, they were still shepherds/rulers/principalities/sars-princes, set over the earth, over all nations, and they are the powers behind the thrones of all nations. There are several instances when YHWH speaks to those shepherds through His prophets, warning them and prophesying things that He will settle with them, in His time, and those warnings in the OT show that He is speaking to the powers behind the thrones of the nations, because the kings who did do the things mentioned are long dead, but the rulers over them in the heavenlies are not dead, and they will be judged for what they did through the earthly rulers under their power.
They slay through men who are under their control, and they are the ones who will pay forever for what they have done, using men on earth. Men on earth will be judged for allowing themselves to be used for wickedness, and they can repent and be forgiven [like Manasseh did], but the powers using them will never be excused, and they will all receive severe judgment of their dominions and they will all be removed by those judgments from their dominions, at that time of judgment, when the seals are broken that kept their deeds from being openly judged. They are "the branches above" who will fall.
Okay, so this brings me to a sign in the heavens and a prophesy, in the real book of Jasher, concerning Abraham and Nimrod, and the statement in Ezekiel 38 which YHWH makes against Gog, when He said He had spoken in old time about Gog coming against Israel: -but when?
"Thus saith the Lord GOD; [Art] thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days [many] years that I would bring thee against them?"
The Hebrew wording of that passage will be used when I come back, and the sign and prophesy in Jasher against Nimrod, as the people ruled by that heavenly ruler, and Abraham's seed, Israel, as the nation of Israel [whose heavenly ruler is Michael]. Michael is set over Israel, and the final war is to rage over the globe, but is a war of rulers in the heavenlies who will be dethroned when they come against Israel, above and below, with the unholy and the holy powers above and men and demons below, battling it out, over Israel, "Abraham's seed".
I have to go before I show the heavenly sign and the prophesy in Jasher, because hubby is returning home within an hour or so from a seventeen day motor bike trip across the nation and back, which he took with a son-in-law and a neighbor. Hooray! He's almost home! But I wanted to begin this thought and thread, for anyone interested, to "chew" on,w hile I'm gone.
I'm sorry to leave you at this point, but do research the controversies for yourself before I come back, which God will settle with the rulers and principalities at the Tribulation, and see the pattern of earthly rulers being under the influence and power of heavenly rulers, whether good or bad, and the controversy to be one age old controversy which is yet to be settled and will be settled.
Daniel 2,4, and 10 is a place to start. In Psalm 82 the judges are the Elohym, the sons of God in the heavenlies who are warned they will "die like the one prince/sar/Adam" for not doing justice on earth.

59"And He called seventy shepherds, and cast those sheep to them that they might pasture them, and He spake to the shepherds and their companions: "Let each individual of you pasture the sheep henceforward, and everything that I shall command you that do ye. 60And I will deliver them over unto you duly numbered, and tell you which of them are to be destroyed- and them destroy ye." And He gave over unto them those sheep. 61"And He called another and spake unto him: 'Observe and mark everything that the shepherds will do to those sheep; for they will destroy more of them than I have commanded them.
62And every excess and the destruction which will be wrought through the shepherds, record namely how many they destroy according to my command, and how many according to their own caprice: record against every individual shepherd all the destruction he effects.
63And read out before me by number how many they destroy, and how many they deliver over for destruction, that I may have this as a testimony against them, and know every deed of the shepherds, that I may comprehend and see what they do, whether or not they abide by my command which I have commanded them. 64But they shall not know it, and thou shalt not declare it to them, nor admonish them, but only record against each individual all the destruction which the shepherds effect each in his time and lay it all before me.'...
68And the shepherds and their associates delivered over those sheep to all the wild beasts, to devour them, and each one of them received in his time a definite number: it was written by the other in a book how many each one of them destroyed of them. 69And each one slew and destroyed many more than was prescribed; and I began to weep and lament on account of those sheep.
70And thus in the vision I saw that one who wrote, how he wrote down every one that was destroyed by those shepherds, day by day, and carried up and laid down and showed actually the whole book to the Lord of the sheep- even everything that they had done, and all that each one of them had made away with, and all that they had given over to destruction. 71And the book was read before the Lord of the sheep, and He took the book from his hand and read it and sealed it and laid it down.
