  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I haven't fallen asleep in a movie for a long time, but The Clearing really was enough to put me into la la land. It basically used flashbacks through out the whole movie to annoy the viewer, and there seemed to be no real aim to it at all.

The Plot:

A man (robert redford) is kidnapped from outside his house by an old school friend (played by Willem Dafoe) , who claims to be working for some nasty people. The Man is in a boring relationship with a wife who seems to have no personality whatsoever (played by the very ordinary Helen Mirren, although it must have taken some talent to portray such a boring character)...

2 hours, and several useless FBI agents later, there is absolutely no resolution to the movie, and it all ends rather abruptly..

Avoid this one at all costs people! With a cast of people I normally like, I would have thought that it would have been at least passable. Someone should revoke this director's flashback license.

0.5 stars out of 10... :p
