• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We are bing presented with the idea that the New(er) Testament speaks of more than one church, I would then like to ask which one of these "churches" Messiah was refering to when He stated ;

Matthew 16:18
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Are you saying that we are still the Church in the wilderness?

God Bless.

There are three churches specified in scripture.
There was the 'church in the wilderness' under the leadership of Moses. Acts 7:38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

There was a Jewish Kingdom churc, called that because its hope was a millennial kingdom on earth where Israel will reign with her king over all the earth. Christ confirmed the existence of this church in Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Then there is the Church which is His Body. Ephesians 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,Ephesians 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. This is commonly called the body of Christ.

Anyone willing to draw a straight line and rightly divide the word of truth and acknowledge that there are 3 churches spoken of in Scripture?

good post Kimberlyann. Why these people want to bring division within the church body is still unclear to me.

Do these peoiple really believe salvation comes to some differently than others? Odd little sect, aren't they.

Luke was always referring to the Nation Israel as their WAS no Body of Christ in the KINGDOM program preached by Peter and the boys.

The Kingdom of God referred to here always has to do with the Nation Israel and THEIR program. It had earthly promises for earthly people with an earthly destination. They were never promised heaven.

Jesus said his words were spirit. Maybe we should think about that. Paul tells us to compare spiritual with spiritual.

1 Corinthians 2 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 2:13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Exactly...we are to compare spiritual with spiritual...scripture with scripture.
When you compare scripture with scripture you will see that not everything is about you. A great deal of scripture was about the nation Israel and God's prophetic program with them. It is in Paul's epistles we see what God is doing during this 'but now' dispensation of the grace of God.

I think you as well as a number of others here are well aware of the often use of the word church in a generic way in the sciptures, yet I think you would agree that Jesus was not refering to any generic group when He stated that He was going to build His church. It is that church that ekklasia to which I am referring.

Problem is that Jesus stated that He was going to build that church, indicating at the time He was speaking, it did not exist. It was to be a future creation.

dear Jerrysch:

(Matt.21:42-43) Jesus saith unto them, "Did ye never read in the scriptures, 'The Stone Which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the LORD'S doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?'
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

refer also to Mark 12:10-11, Luke 20:17, Acts 4:11, 1Pet.2:6-7

I believe you will see that Israel had rejected the King & the Kingdom which is now held in abeyance until He returns after this "dispensation of grace" and the dispensation of judgment begins.

"Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen."

dear timlamb:

Do you not hear and believe what God has said in Eph.2:8---"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" or 2Tim.3:15-17---"And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

How were you saved/spiritually reborn?

Yes you are correct. Ethnic Israel will as a whole repent and then Messiah will come (again) and save them just before the destruction of antichrist right outside Bozera. We will have no part in that battle (other than witnesses) Messiah will win the battle himself, what a glorious sight that will be:wave:
