Titus 2:
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live
soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing
of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Those who reject the necessity of sanctification, that they may be a
purified peculiar people, disclose their lack of zeal for the Lord.
Galatians 4:18 But it is good to be zealous in a good thing always,
and not only when I am present with you.
The Testimony of the scriptures confirm God's response toward
those who show a zeal for the Lord of hosts.
Numbers 25:
10 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
11 Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned back
My wrath from the children of Israel, because he was zealous with My zeal
among them, so that I did not consume the children of Israel in My zeal.
12 Therefore say, ‘Behold, I give to him My covenant of peace;
13 and it shall be to him and his descendants after him a covenant of an
everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God,
and made atonement for the children of Israel.
There are other examples in the OT, and Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles,
stood out for His misplaced zeal, which he re-directed to serve the Gospel.
Galatians 1:
13 For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted
the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it.
14 And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my
own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
Acts 22:
2 And when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language,
they kept all the more silent. Then he said:
3 “I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city
at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the strictness of our fathers’
law, and was zealous toward God as you all are today.
Believers in Judea like Paul, remained zealous for God's Law.
Acts 21:
19 When he had greeted them, he told in detail those things which God
had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord. And they said to him,
You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are who have believed,
and they are all zealous for the law...
Saints must repent and be zealous for the things of God.
Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.
Therefore be zealous and repent.
