May the people of our nations weep again and turn to prayer.Judges 2:
The Angel of the Lord appears to the Israelites and asks them why they so abominably disobeyed the Lord God.
"And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this? Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you. And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept." ~Judges 2:1-4

In addition, here in verse 31 of chapter 3, God raised up another judge, a man named Shamgar, to deliver Israel from their enemies, the Philistines, who didn't have sense enough to leave the Israelites alone. (Will they EVER learn?)
"And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel." ~Judges 3:31
(Doesn't this remind ya' of Samson?)

Thankyou for these helpful readings and comments,'brinny'
Precious indeed!Sooooooooo Israel does evil against the living God. Again. (When WILL they EVER learn??!!!) God allows the Midianites (and the Amalekites) to oppress, steal, and tyrannize the Israelites for 7 years and to steal all their crops and oxen, etc. leaving them nothing. The Bible describes the numbers of Israel's enemies to be as numerous as "grasshoppers". It was so bad, that the Israelites fled to the mountains where they lived in dens and caves.
So Gideon, the youngest son of a farmer whose family was the weakest of his tribe, is minding his own business, threshing wheat by the wine press to hide it from his enemies, when lo and behold, under an oak tree, there appeared the Angel of the Lord, that announced himself by calling Gideon a "mighty man of valor". Now Gideon sure didn't think of himself as a "mighty man of valor", and i suspect he might have even looked around to see "who" was being spoken to, as if he was saying "Who, me?" Then he realized that the Angel of the Lord was speaking to HIM.
Is this precious, or WHAT???!!!
Precious indeed!
