Because your blunt and obnoxious in a good way and it amuses me. This forum needs more people like you...Except finding them might be hard. So cloning you might be the best option!
I wasn't being mean. I do have a sense of humor, you know.
oh, the whole place is crawling with michiganders!
Celibacy can be considered whatever you want to consider it to be, whether that concept is derived from scripture, or not, and scripture treats the subject as hands-off, saying not all can accept the saying that some make themselves eunuchs, that each is given their own gifts, and there is no pressure one way or the other. Personally I'd like people to not be concerned with my sexuality, private parts, or anything else that is personal, and it is a violation of my rights for anyone to try to control me in that area so long as I am respecting the rights of others.
Come to Michigan, where the blunt and obnoxious reign! It's the cold, freezing our filters right off.
Yeah, I'm kind of wondering if any of them are Yoopers.
There's no problem here. Consider it a warning shot.Okay, simmer down now.
I've been thinking, why does celibacy have to be easy to be considered a gift? As I see it, this life is preparing us (Christians) for eternity. Struggle makes us stronger. I have no doubt that struggling is a gift from God. I don't enjoy it, but that's not the point. It's meant for our good.
Pretty much the same thing I was thinking. If it were easy abstinence or purity couldn't really be considered a virtue.
Define "purity" using scripture if you can please, otherwise I think this also is one of those morals that isn't founded on scripture, if "purity" is assumed to be a state of one's sexuality.
The purity that I've found described in scripture is defined as purity of heart, and doesn't appear to be focused on sexual activity, but essentially encompasses all kinds of activity.

But then that does include sexual purity, which is basically fleeing from sexual immorality and putting off lust.
