We are about as low church as a Lutheran church comes. Or at least among the Lutheran church's that I have been to and seen.

Our pastor is a bit of a loose cannon anyways even for the ELCA (one of the three different denominations that call themselves Lutheran in the US)

They mean exactly the same thing. #s 1 and 2 from the Protestant version are #1 in the Catholic one, and then the Protestant #10 is the Catholic #'s 9 and 10. (as has been pointed out in a link provided--not even all Catholics use the same exact numbering--Catholics in different regions have used a different version than those in traditionally Latin countries.

Well the Catholic version was a part of Christianity 1500 years before the protestant one. We do not in fact leave out the command against idols. If one looks in our catechism it is a part of our first commandment. This is logical as the command is in fact against having a false "god". Not believing that some saint was in heaven. The command cannot be one simply against the having of statues as if it were then why does God command Moses to make two cheribum over the mercy seat or create the bronze serpant. Interestingly the serpant was destroyed when it was raised to the level of God and worshipped. We do not worship the saints and so are completely inline with what God intends.

Do you kids have dolls or teddy bears. If you want the commandment your way, you need to throw them out. No idolatry, i.e. seeing a statue as a god is what the command is about.

By the way, on what basis do you say that the 10 commandemnts are your set. Keep in mind that there was no paragraphs or punctuation or sentences when the Bible was written. There were just 14 statements.
