"For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe." - 1 Timothy 4:10

I wonder how Calvinists explain this verse. This verse says that Jesus is "specially" the savior of those that believe, which means that he is also the savior of those that don't believe.

I do not believe in Calvinism and think it's teachings are not biblical. God's Word however does not teach that all men will be saved. 1 Timothy 4:10 is stating that Jesus is the Savior of the world. It does not state that all will be saved. This is why Jesus says in John 3:36 He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God stays on him. God's salvation therefore is conditional on believing and following what God's Word says.

Take Care.

Would this apply to Calvinists more than it would to believers in Free Will? The latter do not posit that every last person will be saved either.

Correct. He is the Savior for all mankind however few will follow Him thus remain lost forever. Blessings.

My pastor is the teacher of all men of our church.

Does that mean he has taught all men of our church?
