Anybody else watching this show? My hubby and I really love it. Lots of surprises and twists. Even though some episodes are predictable and the sub-plots are almost dismissable beneath the main plot (Lizzie-Tom-Red), it's a great show. My only interest really lies in the unfolding relationships between Lizzie, Tom, and Red; the other characters and minor plots barely hold my notice.

I watch it. I adore James Spader's acting.
I'm thinking there's going to be a major twist in the Red-Lizzie plot. Viewers think they know who he is, but last episode with Tom's revelation and information about the safe deposit box that he gave to Lizzie before he left, makes it curious.
Though since Tom was set to meet Lizzy from the beginning, premeditating every move he made even at the first introduction to her, I think that he said he knew she would find that safe deposit box key leads to thinking he could very well have planted the pictures that are inside it.

Is he after Red? Or is he after Lizzie? He said he wasn't there to hurt her. But if he is after Red what better way to confuse the link between Red and Lizzie than to plant photos that would make her think Red is a monster?

Destroying that relationship, Red then loses one of his greatest allies in the government secret services. Services that he's using to his own advantage in the first place.

I like the show. It is twisty enough that just when you think you've got it figured out you may be right in one respect, but then a twist comes along and turns that all around.

Spader is very selective in the projects he undertakes. He's not in movies all the time, like for instance Tom Hanks is. When he shows up on small screen it has to be a good show.

Do you get the On Demand series? They have behind the scenes Blacklist features too.

Yes, I lurve James Spader! He's sarcastic and calculating and brilliant, and his character Red never acts or even speaks without planning ahead. I love his seemingly random conversations with people, while all the while you know he's got the whole situation completely under his control. It's thrilling to watch.

Of course, my first intuition is that Tom is full of garbage when he tries to throw Lizzie's trust in Red. And yet we know so little about who Red really is. We know that he knew Lizzie's real father, we know that he was friends with her adoptive father, but we also know that he murdered her adoptive father to prevent him from spilling secrets to Lizzie during his final hours. What is he trying to hide? Is Tom going to reveal some sordid detail about Red that may be true, but may ultimately be forgivable once we have the facts? So many questions!

I really get on Lizzie's side when she's asking, begging, and demanding for Red to give her the truth, and he just continually puts her off! That would drive anyone insane!

But I really feel that, whatever Red's true background and identity and relationship to Lizzie, he really loves and cares for her like a daughter. You can just see it in his face when he's around her. If I turn out to be wrong on that, I'm going to be REALLY upset lol.

I love the show. James Spader is amazing in it. I can't say I 100% knew who he was before the show though. Pretty much everything you said Inka. I think Red truly cares for Liz, even if he is manipulative to some degree. .

(spoiler from a few weeks back)
The episode with him killing her dad in the hospital with the pillow. It made me bring up even more questions of what the back story is.

Yup, that's what I was referring to. That was her adoptive father, we've never seen (that we know of!) her biological father.

If you like James Spader, check out Boston Legal. He has a great role and synergy in that with William Shatner.

I remember catching bits and pieces of that show when it was on, and he was just wickedly caustic in that show! There is nobody like him.

James Spader has been in the acting game for a very long time. One of my favorite memories is his role in the movie, Stargate.

A distinctly different James compared to Red twenty years later.

I loved him in Boston Legal. I remember thinking if I was rich I'd want to be able to afford a real life attorney like his character. He was brilliant!
