  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When first meeting your SO and talking to them for the first time (and times after that), how did you know you would be with this person?

How did you tell this person how you felt once you started having feelings for them?

I figured this would be an interesting question (well questions) for everyone. I can't wait to read responses. :)

Well he's my new hubby now but I'll answer anyway.

When I first met him, he already had a fiance and I was going to be the MOH in his wedding...until she threw down the ring and said forget it. So we parted ways, and I had only met him twice, so it wasn't a big deal. He owned a computer shop and once in a while I'd take my computer down there to be fixed. Other than that we dropped contact...for about a year.

Then we started talking on MSN IM, I started listening to him vent about his former SO and we just grew to be friends via IM. The relationship was deeper than I thought because when I went to go away for 3 months, he decided he'd show up at my house for the going away party. What a sweetheart...even though we never saw eachother, he didn't want me to go. That night, we just started randomly talking. Until 11pm. lol...everyone had come and gone by then, the party was over, the siblings were going to bed (and being all hush hush about me hanging out with a man), and we talked, and talked. Actually, I talked and talked and he listened and listened. I just knew...somehow. He was clueless for a bit but the next day we both admitted something was there and that we liked eachother. The relationship blossomed very quickly and within 14 months we were married. I just knew, he just knew.

honestly it was quite quickly. I always felt God pushing me to talk to him even when we really didn't know eachother and i wasn't thinking of him like that and he told me later that he also felt like he was being pushed to talk to me but at the time he didn't know why either :p.

So we started talking in May of last year and by July we both had developed pretty strong feelings for eachother but we were too shy to say anything so it was after we both started driving a mutual friend of ours crazy by talking to her about our feelings she just pushed us into talking about it haha.

it was 2 weeks after we finally admitted our feelings to eachother that we decided why not make it official so we did and we've been together ever since :)

First of all, I didn't know I would be with Chris, I just knew that I wanted to be. It was weird. I met him at work (he was a customer), he recognised me from church while I didn't think I'd ever seen him in my life- and after that I just noticed him all the time at church. I was accutely aware of where he was at any given point before, during or after the service. Then he joined the youth team, I had a dream that he kissed me (LOL) and from then on, I was head-over-heels. I never expected him to feel the same way.

Lucky for me, I didn't have to tell him. Another friend did :p and he was disappointed because already 4 more of his female friends liked him and he didn't want to be dating anyone. But he started getting physically closer and closer with me, we started walking the couple walk, even though we weren't a couple, and finally we decided there was something there and we should give it a go. So glad we did!!!

My radar is out of tune. With each boyfriend, I have felt he is 'The One' only to change my mind after a year and a half or more.

So now I disregard initial feelings.

When Tim and I first met, we didn't think we would ever end up together. But we hung out and got to know each other, it just blossomed. He was so nice to me and took the time to help me study for my finals (we started dating during finals week!) and things just got better from there :)

When I first met my fiance', I wasn't even thinking about a boyfriend! I was so caught up in my relationship with God that a boyfriend was the last thing on my mind, I was enjoying being single!!! So finally after a few months, we finally got a chance to hang out, just the two of us, and I just felt so comfortable around here...we had alot of similar life experiences, and we just clicked...but it was a few months before I knew he was "The One" although he says he knew from the moment he saw me...

I really didnt think I would be with him when we first met. The first time I talked to him I actually thought he was a little weird, like loser kind of weird. We were in gr 11. After a year, on my 18th birthday he gave me a great gift and I thought, "Wow, he really treats me great." It wasnt for almost another year that I started to actually have feelings for him. I had a friend tell him, I was chicken :p. Turned out he already liked me too, for quite a while. So I didnt have to wait at all. We decided to be officially together a week later. It was such a wonderful relationship from the beginning.
