Obviously, I love this show if TV enthusiasts haven't noticed already. This show has taught me a lot of things. New words like coitus. Great people like Neil deGrasse Tyson and Stephen Hawking. And gave nerds around the world hope in the area of dating. If anything, it made me more aware of science. Inspired me to think more than I was prior to me watching the show. However, this show wasn't the reason I left Christianity. It more so serves as confirmation of how things come full circle. Naturally, my favorite character is Sheldon Cooper. I wasn't expecting to be using him as my avatar around the internet. However, he is my avatar. He represents so many present dynamics in my actual life that I feel is perfect for me to use as some sort of mask to the net public.

In being intelligent on a higher level than the average it truly does affect your social interaction in ways that literally makes you awkward, misunderstood and offensive due to the majorities lower IQ and them being defensive about it. It applied also in the Christian Faith when I was often more biblically sound than the average Christian to where I was misunderstood by other Christians. There's no need to be ashamed of a choice you made in the area of intellect. If you want to be smarter? Simply apply yourself but don't get perturbed with me simply because I made such a grand decision to exercise the most important muscle of the body.

The Brain. ( which is literally a legitimate debatable topic )

The truth is constant and never changes. It's how you know something is the truth. Lies change, get altered and tweaked and are never productive in the area of human development. The most honest thing a human can say is " I don't know. " Ergo, religion of any magnitude is arrogant by default because a person decided to create a story about a diety that they never met before yet felt as though they did due to a grandiose feeling that every human can experience when their thoughts venture into such heights in the area of trying to figure out how it all began. Neil deGrasse Tyson spoke on this with scientists such as Isaac Newton. When they reached a point in their discovery where they simply couldn't understand it? They then asserted that the universe must've been created by Intelligent Design. So even in the area of science, it's been shown that the idea of a God is not far-fetched, ridiculous or delusional. It's only when you make a religion based on that experience of awe that it becomes delusional.

You may ask me what I think about The Big Bang Theory. And after looking into it for some time I've come to this conclusion about it.

I found the TV show Big Bang Theory moderately entertaining, and have seen perhaps most of 8 or 10 episodes. One helpful thing to realize is that every human is individually unique not merely in precise genetic makeup and features and experience, but even truly unique in thoughts, and we can only agree on relatively simple things we define in simple ways. Therefore if you can find a non-trivial true statement applying to someone (which would be an accomplishment), it's actually merely applying to a tiny percentage only, and not more than for instance 0.1% of people, etc. In other words, think again when you think to characterize some giant diverse grouping in a non-trivial way. You merely can't because it's merely impossible.

I dislike the Big Bang Theory. The characters are superficial stereotypes, like the blonde bimbo, the sleazy guy, the socially awkward and/or oblivious nerd.

Its comedy mostly entails making references to pop culture or vaguely referencing science. As such, it is driven by people either understanding the references and somehow see mirth in its use out of context in normal situations; or by those who do not, that enjoy supposedly 'smart people' flailing around in daily situations. The former feel intellectually superior and the latter feel superior in vindication of the sillyness of the book-smart. So for many, it comes down to the Nerds looking down on normal people, and normal people mocking Nerds. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I don't understand why you would try and preamble some thoughts on epistemology and religion with this sitcom, though. If you enjoy it, I am glad. It is certainly not everyone's cup of tea.

I'm not using a sitcom. I'm using a character played on that sitcom. An idea that the character portrays is actually my reality, thus your outlook on the show is from a vantage point of assumptions when there are people like me who actually live the Sheldon Cooper life every day.

Other than the crass way it often portrays and handles issues pertaining to human sexuality, as is typical for many sitcoms, I like how the Big Bang Theory off-handedly incorporates the sciences--both hard and soft [no pun intended]--into the setting and the background of its characters, along with various allusions to comic book and sci-fi Fandom. As a long time student of philosophy and social science myself, these prominent motifs in the show have appealed to me ever since I first encountered them over a decade ago, the same motifs by which Sheldon and the gang have become popularly known, obviously.

Granted, I've only seen two or three dozen full episodes (~maybe a few more than that) of this show during its long run, and although I'm nowhere near the comic book and scif-fi “nerd” I used to be as a kid and teenager, I still get nostalgic for this stuff fairly frequently. I'll also admit that to see a long running sitcom such as this affirm a segment of the population typically stereotyped as the “nerdy bunch” has been somewhat affirming for me personally as well, even if it has been in a somewhat indirect way.

And then of course, there is the character of Sheldon Cooper, the one who carries the show with his mix of overly rigid acumen, dry wit, and usually comical social dysfunction, among other things. But despite his presence in the show, however hilarious it often is, I'd have to say that I've identified much more with the characters of Leonard and Howard.

...I saw this scene when it aired, quite serendipitously I might add. I thought it was funny, even if a bit stereotypical. Young Sheldon's questions also reminded me just how much I've never been a Fundamentalist. As a kid, I started with Carl Sagan and Stan Lee and George Lucas as my 'gurus,' and later proceeded to investigate that there thang called "the Bible." ...I never could get past the Garden of Eden story in a literal way. So, this clip of young Sheldon reminds me just a little bit of myself at the same young age; but he obviously had much more adroitness in his thought and exposition than I had.

I would say it's quite arrogant of you to say you evolved with the genes to reach truth, while the vast majority of others evolved to reach irrationality.
Natural selection would never in a trillion years favour nihilism. I've never even heard of a materialist family with many kids.
