If everything jesus said is to be considered symbolic / allagorical in the new testamant and everythinh in the old testament was passed on around the camp fire before people could write should the whole Bible be considered Allagorical ?.
A lot of what Jesus said was in parables (Fireinfolding gave you a bunch of verses on that). So, if you do not understand something - no problem. Read what you can understand.
If you can understand it, it is what you see. Very simple.
If it gives comparisons to seeds, or flowers, of grass (you need to use common sense) this is figurative.
The Old Testament is a real historical book. It describes actual events.
In some parts it is presented in plain language, like in historical books.
In some parts it is in a prophetic type of a language. Very complex.
(I just skip prophetic parts,

very hard to understand.

)
Entire Genesis - literal. Unbelievable to some, yet as literal as day.
You see, Christ accepted the entire Old Testament as is.
He accepted that Jonah was inside the belly of the great fish, and all the other events.
And since we call ourselves Christ-ians, we believe what he believes.
Does this help?
Thanks,

In Christ,
Ed
