  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

First off there is many differnt bibles. If your asking about the Holy Bible, I can answer the question in a very general way. How I know is just from what my pastor has told me. NO ONE sat down and wrote the Bible. Old scribes and old letters have been found in caves, hid in mountians, dug up from the gorund. It is said that Moses wrote Genesis and 5 other books in the old testament. And differnt important people wrote the others-- I'm sorry I'm not sure who they were. Paul wrote 13 epistles (Books and letters) which makes up one-fourth of the new testament. Luke was written by "the beloved physician," the companion of the apostle Paul. John was written by "the disciple whom Jesus loved" and so on. It is also said that these scribes and letters and documents are not the originals. That they are like "copies" written because arciloigest say they date back from like many years latter from when the orginals would have been written. There were even some scrolls found not too long ago. In 1946 2 young boys found what are called "Dead Sea Scrolls". They found in a cave several large jars that had leather materials wrapped in linen. Its got around of what they found and people went serching for more in near by caves and found more. You can find info on these by Serching on the internet. Now you ask about the corruption of the Bible people are talking about. It could be alot of things they are talking about. It could be about how some people a long time ago took out several books of the Bible because they "lack meaning" for the christian church. These books are still in some Cathlic Bibles. They are now called "The Apocrypha Books" you can buy them in most christian stores. Another reason could be how so many new holy bibles are coming out that "are easier to read"- writing them the way we talk now. No "shalts", "thou". If you read a few verses out of the king James version Bible you can say "well it means this" then someone else will say "No it means this". And thses easier to read Bibles are written the way the author interpets it. But this has been going on for a while-- The scrolls and letters I told u about are written in Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and some other lanuages. So the King James Bible was traslated by King James. So he wrote what he thought was being said. If you take a Latin Bible and read it (if you can read Latin) there are severl diffent times you will see that it says something totally differnt from King James version. I hope this helps you out!! God Bless!!

Most of that 2nd post addresses your question. The New Testmant was written down by many different Christians. The names of the books in the New Testament are mostly either believed to be written by a person with that name or recieved by a person (or group) with that name. For example, The book of Luke was written by Luke. The book of Timothy was written to Timothy. The book of Hebrews was written to the Hebrews.

Some people believe that God told the authors of the New Testament exactly what to write down, and some people believe that the scriptures were not dictated to the authors but that they were guided/shaped somewhat by the Holy Spirit.

There were many "scriptures" written down, but many church leaders thought that some of these books were not true -- that people of non-christian sects wrote down some of the books. So, a group of ancient church leaders prayerfully decided which books would be in the canon (the New Testament as we know it today).

For more inofrmation, most study Bibles give a history of the Bible.
