One of my favorite Christmas cartoons is Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol.

The music is so beautiful--Magoo's Christmas Carol got the idea that cartoons should be beautifully orchestrated long before Disney did.

"When You're Alone in the World"
"Winter Was Warm"
"We've Got the Lord's Bright Blessing"
"Ringle, Ringle..."

All my children loved it too. I can still remember one of my sons calling it Magoo's Clipmas Carol.

Um...just FYI: Mr. Magoo first came out in 1949; Disney's first full-length, beautifully orchestrated animated feature ("Snow White & the 7 Dwarves") came out in 1937, and "Fantasia" - their animated feature BASED on merging orchestration and animation - came out in 1940, and "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" came out in 1962.

I'm just sayin'...

Back to "A Charlie Brown Christmas"...

I've watched this special every year it has been out (I'm assuming the first couple of years...I don't remember...). I remember being a child and, after receiving my first "shoebox" tape recorder, sitting in front of the TV, and recording Linus' speech. To this day, when I hear, "Lights, please?" I get chills. What is also nice is, the FIRST Christmas DVD my daughters asked to watch this year was "A Charlie Brown Christmas".
