Are you a literalist when it comes to defining the 21st century?
Starting with 1/1/00 or 1/1/01? Or to get even more technical, 23:57 on 12/31/99 or 23:57 on 12/31/00?

Anything released in 2000 or after counts.

Why albums? Why not just tracks?

I don't know, I guess because I like albums more than tracks. Since you're such a cool guy, WD, I'll let you make a list of tracks if you want. :)

OK, I got impatient, so here's my top ten, limited to one per artist.

1. The Decemberists- "Castaways and Cutouts"
2. Sigur Rós- "Ágætis Byrjun"
3. The Fiery Furnaces- "Gallowsbird's Bark"
4. Radiohead- "Kid A"
5. The Strokes- "Is This It"
6. Interpol- "Turn on the Bright Lights"
7. The Shins- "Chutes Too Narrow"
8. Coldplay- "Parachutes"
9. Modest Mouse- "The Moon and Antarctica"
10. Lauryn Hill- "MTV Unplugged 2.0"

Honorable mentions- these might've made the list without the one per artist limit:

The Decemberists- "Her Majesty"
Sigur Rós- ( )
The Fiery Furnaces- "Blueberry Boat"
Radiohead- "Hail to the Thief"

And a couple odds and ends:

Pedro the Lion- "Achilles' Heel"
My Morning Jacket- "It Still Moves"
The Flaming Lips- "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots"
Against Me!- "As the Eternal Cowboy"
