New around these parts.

I consider myself Christian first, Protestant second,
and then whatever church that is preaching and living by the Bible.

For about the last 15 years I have attended/visited mostly Baptist/Anabaptist churches which have
included Independent Baptist, Conservative Baptist, and Mennonite.

I have been hanging out in the "reformed" theology congregational forum.
Thought it was about time I headed over here to check in.

Here's what I'd do for a quick and easy meal:
Ham, potato casserole, green beans, salad, bread, and cobbler for dessert.

I'd just slice the ham and put some pineapple slices and a lil bit of brown sugar on top and bake it at the same time as the potato casserole (http://southernfood.about.com/library/recsbb/blbb711.htm). Cook some green beans, put a salad together, put out the bread or rolls (along with butter and jam), and the cobbler (http://www.cbt.net/dedwards/peach_cobbler.htm) can be cooked earlier in the day if you want, and there ya go!

I'll be cooking the whole dinner this time, but I can get help with the prep work, like chopping vegetables, if I need it.

My favorite is a beef soup/stew. Very filling, has most of everything in it, and easy to boot. Can't get any better than that.

I've done different soups a couple of times, and they like it a lot - especially with my homemade sourdough rye bread. I was kind of hoping to do something a little more special this time, though, because it will be a kickoff for the fall.

I've never even made them a recipe with a can of soup in it. They are spoiled. Everything homemade, except I sometimes buy bread or dessert.

Look at my posts in the recipe exchange to get an idea what kinds of things I usually make.

I was thinking about maybe barbecuing a turkey. That would be a little bit of a logistical problem, though, since I'd have to do the grilling at home, and have other church responsibilities in the morning that will prevent me from going to the early service. Unless I come up with a better idea, I'll be in a dilemma about whether to skip the morning service altogether.

Have any of you ever barbecued a split turkey? I split chickens to barbecue them. I wonder if I could do the same thing with a turkey? That might solve my time problem.

Guess that's a question for the recipe forum.

Goodness!...then I guess you aren't exactly looking for "quick and easy" are ya?! I can get a meal together if I have to, but quick and easy is definitely how I like to go about it. The barbecued turkey sounds great! Let us know what you decided on! Good luck and God bless!
