So you accept the truth that God is possible, but then you accept the truth that this possibility does not exist? So according to you, what is possible actually does not exist. <still seems irrational to me.
It didn't occur to you that those who suffer get credit for it in the afterlife?
Giving someone credit in the afterlife for suffering in this life would be "unspeakably cruel"?Yes it did, but I dismissed that idea on the basis that it would be unspeakably cruel.
Isn't that the same for all possibilities? Isn't that the definition of what a possibility is?
Is it possible that the Koran really was dictated to Muhammad by Allah? I guess it is possible, but there is no evidence demonstrating that it is true so I don't believe it is true at this time. What is wrong with that stance?
Nope. Your entire belief system is predicated on what you want to believe, not on reasons for why you should believe. If I don't have my senses, I can't believe anything(anything at all, ever.). I'm sure you agree with this, which means you misunderstood what I meant when I said "I'm only willing to believe what makes sense, because sense is all I have in order to believe anything."
Do you believe that the Earth hangs immovable in space, while the cosmos rotates around it?
Nothing wrong with that stance. I'm not talking about allah, I'm talking about God of the Holy Bible.
If you went to a forum full of allah followers, there's now way it would get as deep as these forums go into the psyche of human thought and beliefs. Why do you think that is? Is it because they are blinded by something that doesn't even allow them to rationally think and therefore not even have the freedom of discussion like this?
Nope. Your entire belief system is predicated on what you want to believe, not on reasons for why you should believe.
I've repeatedly pointed out how your syllogism is fallacious, and you continue to ignore this fact.
In a nutshell, your argument boils down to: This is what I believe, because I want to believe it.
Do you believe that the Earth hangs immovable in space, while the cosmos rotates around it?Well there's evidence right there in that picture, so it must be true! Oh wait, maybe physical evidence doesn't always point to the real truth about life.
NoDo you believe that the Earth hangs immovable in space, while the cosmos rotates around it?
I have Boolean standards that tell me to believe the earth circles the sun.Why not?
You continue to assume I don't have good reason for my beliefs.
What's the difference?
I am using a religious belief that neither of us have in order to find common ground. As the argument goes, we are both atheists. There are thousands and thousands of gods we both don't believe in. When you understand why you disbelieve in those thousands of other gods, you will understand why I disbelieve in yours.
I understand your beliefs. You assume a single all powerful God does not exist.
I don't look to the bible to determine truth. You can though.
He's under the assumption that the word "assume" is a position of weakness.
He claims that making an assumption somehow confines one to accepting two contradictory claims as "truth," which is obviously absurd. So to get around this fabricated conundrum, he simply states that he believes something to be true, thereby making it true. This seems to be some permutation of the presuppositionalist argument. He's under the assumption that everyone is as dogmatic as he is. It seems that he can't understand how someone can have an open mind.
