I'm not really a fan with what leadership is doing in right now in Oklahoma's schools.

'Trump Bible' one of few that meet Walters' criteria for Oklahoma classrooms

1.I don't understand why bibles should be purchased. Makes 100% sense that donated bibles could easily populate these classes if legislated.

2. Why are secular documents required to be part of a holy book?

3. Are those secular documents required at the front of social science and math textbooks too?

4. Do they bother to try to not make this look like a grift?

5. Does the leadership who set this up think their behaviour demonstrates honesty and integrity for those who are already skeptical of the love and ethics of modern Christians?

I am to imagine that this is just a wild coincidence I suppose.

Just putting aside the state investing in this or that holy book.... requiring all these other documents to be in the book? From my outsiders perspective, this looks like a perversion of the faith.

Yeah. Did you ever hear of Falwell’s Liberty Bible? Somewhat of a precursor, it had portraits of all American presidents including the then president Reagan.

It is pretty clear that these specifications are meant to limit the purchase to a specific vendor.

Oklahoma's schools have loads more problems than what Bible they use. I don't live in Oklahoma, but I live very near Oklahoma.

One small school district nearby has classes 5 days a week half the year and 4 days a week the other half (longer hours). Does this in any way make sense?

Teacher salaries are (last time I looked) the lowest in the entire country. An OKC teacher recently won teacher of the year and promptly moved to Texas at a huge salary increase.

A few years ago teachers had some sort of job action because their salaries were so low--and the superintendents of the school districts supported the teachers against the state. Salaries have to be pretty low for superintendents to side with teachers instead of the government.

As usual, I'm sure that the two largest cities (or at least their suburbs) have excellent schools, but don't all children deserve good schools?

I am a conservative Republican living outside of Tulsa, OK

I am also a Christian.

I do NOT agree with mandating Bibles in School - not in any form. For a variety of reasons. I would vote a resounding no.

I also vehemently oppose the social engineering that is currently happening in our schools - It got so bad when our children were still in school that we pulled our two youngest out and sent them to private schools where they were not exposed to the sexuality and vulgarity that has become a norm and acceptable.

Keep schools for academia and sports -

You should look again:

The state that you live in is in the bottom five, not Oklahoma

Lowest-Paid States for Teachers

How much do teachers make a year in states that are less affluent? Teachers who are living and working in states with lower average pay might find that they are dealing with a variety of issues that are caused by and exacerbated by a lack of funds. Places where teachers are not paid very well are often also places where schools have relatively little funding to begin with, which can impact students' education as much as it can impact teachers' livelihoods. Teachers may find that they need to be more creative when it comes to developing effective instructional methods in the absence of adequate support and funding.
Low wages can be particularly challenging for teachers who are trying to launch their careers. The five states with the lowest annual mean salary are:
  1. South Dakota ($49,190)
  2. Mississippi ($49,770)
  3. West Virginia ($50,770
  4. North Carolina ($51,570)
  5. Arkansas ($53,080)

How does that work, exactly? Are LGBT kids just not admitted? Are they expelled if they are outed?

If you don’t live in Oklahoma, it doesn’t matter.
What matters to him is for him alone to decide.

Also I would think this attempted perversion of the faith would matter to any Christian. But then again Ive seen religion increasingly subsumed by politics among many American Christians - to the point where requiring state contract Bibles to include secular political documents may net a big fine-whatever.

When social engineering is left out - it becomes a non issue.

It should, IMHO, be treated like those on the Left want Christians to be treated - I don’t care what you believe - but leave it outside my classroom.

We send our children to school to learn academics, not to be indoctrinated into a belief system, be it religious or sexual preference.

Perhaps if we focused our schools on academia we would have a higher rating in the world and more competitive in business, the sciences etc.

Leave your religious beliefs out of the schools

Leave your sexual preferences out of the schools.
