  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Beloved ones, we heard:

““Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free,
And THAT YOU BREAK EVERY YOKE?”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭58:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

What is the yoke ?
How we break the yoke, or even every yoke ?

This we heard:

“For You HAVE BROKEN THE YOKE of his burden
And the staff of his shoulder,
The rod of his oppressor,
As in the day of Midian.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So the yoke is burden. But whose burden, that we heard ?
This earlier said:

“You have multiplied the nation And increased its joy;
They rejoice before You
According to the joy of harvest,
As men rejoice when they divide the spoil.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So his burden is the nation’s burden. But who have broken the nation’s burden? This we heard :

“Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He departed to Galilee.

And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali,

that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:

“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles:

The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death
Light has dawned.”

From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4:12-17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So we know that Jesus who have broken the nation’s burden. How Jesus have broken the yoke of burden ? We heard Jesus have broken the yoke of burden by preaching to those who sat in darkness and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, that He said,”Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

So what break the yoke, we perceive is repentance! So those who sat in darkness have seen a great light, have perceived a great teaching ! And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death
Light has dawned, that the teaching of Jesus has dawned.

For we heard :

“For You HAVE BROKEN THE YOKE of his burden
And the staff of his shoulder,
The rod of his oppressor,
AS IN THE DAY OF MIDIAN.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

How we might understand that has been spoken “AS IN THE DAY OF MIDIAN”?
This we heard:

“When the three hundred blew the trumpets, the Lord set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; and the army fled to Beth Acacia, toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath.”
‭‭Judges‬ ‭7:22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

AS IN THE DAY OF MIDIAN or As in the day of Strife or place of judgement; As when the three hundred blew the trumpets, the Lord set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; and the army fled to Beth Acacia ( house of thorn — place where people turn away from virtue and fidelity), toward Zererah (bondage), as far as the border of Abel Meholah ( stream of dance ), by Tabbath (perpetual).

So through Jesus’s teaching of repentance, that He has broken the yoke of the nation’s burden as in the day of strife or place of judgement.

Beloved ones, let us break every yoke of burden by preaching what Jesus preached and say what Jesus said, for by repentance that every yoke will be broken, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand. For the kingdom of Heaven is near to those who repent.

To God the Father be thanksgiving through Christ. Amen
