  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've got a 'thank you' here for St. Anthony and St. Anne.

For St. Anthony: Three seperate times last week at work I was brought a pile of...stuff...because someone else had been working and searching numbers for hours (in one case days) and could not by any means make the numbers balance. They were all only off by a few dollars. Even though I was very busy myself, I smiled and said I would be glad to help them and take a look. I started each time by saying a prayer. "Holy St. Anthony, come to my aid. Pray for me, and help me to find what is lost. In Christ, our Lord, Amen."

It took me less than 10 minutes in each instance to find the error and correct it so that things balanced perfectly. I credit it to no skill of my own. Thanks be to God.

This is a big one. For St. Anne: My sister is 32, almost 33, years old. She was in a terrible car accident several years ago that damaged her pelvic region and internal organs severely. Her doctors have been concerned that she might not ever be able to conceive, and if she did, might not be able to carry a child to term. She has been trying very hard over the last year or so to become pregnant and has been worrying me to death. :p She has had two 'false alarms' over the past three months, and had become very despondent. She was 'late' again this month, and refused to do a test to see if she might be pregnant. She said there was no point in it because she had been 'late' the last few months too, and coulnd't bear to be disappointed again. I lit a candle here at home for the last five days running and offered a prayer to St. Anne to interceed for my sister. "Holy St. Anne, Patron of expectant mothers, you once longed for a miracle in your childlessness. You know the pain in the heart of a woman who cannot conceive a child, the desperate wish for that most precious gift of God. Please pray for my sister, Stephanie, and offer her pain before the throne of God. Beg God for a miracle on her behalf. In Christ, our Lord, Amen."

My sister called me this morning at 6:00 AM :)rolleyes: ) to tell me that she finally got her courage up to do a test. And I'm expecting my first neice or nephew in August or September, 2003. :) Thanks be to God.

Would you all please say a prayer for my sister for a safe pregnancy? The docs will be monitoring her closely, and I am confident that St. Anne is watching over this particular blessing, but it never hurts to have back-up. ;)

Peace be with you all.

The homily yesterday was about the sanctity of sex, and how the purpose is God-given, to create new life.

How appropriate to your sister-in-law!

Father said we should look upon all pregnancies as "fruit of the womb."

My prayers for your sister-in-law!

Peace be with you,
