...who thought of me or said a prayer for me. I wasn't intending to leave for good, and I'm sorry if I gave that impression. I just thought it would be in my best interest, and everyone else's, if I put some distance between myself and the temptation to give in to temper and exasperation. I like coming here, mostly, and I love the friends I have here. A few days off have helped to steady my perspective again, and I feel comfortable coming back.

Join me at the pub, and I'll let Wols buy everyone a drink.

Oh, boy. That makes me all mushy and horrifies me at the same time. You are so kind to think of me that way, God bless you. I can control (mostly) what I say and how I behave where people can see and hear, but I still am plagued by exactly what I *want* to say and do in my thoughts. It troubles me. In the penitential rite during Mass when we confess that we have sinned "in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do...". What I think and what I fail to do bother me so much more that what I actually do and say. I'm sure, though, that that will continue to be a cross for me until I am united with God.

Stormy, I must confess that your change of heart came as a big surprise to me. And it has touched me deeply. I keep everyone at this forum in my prayers. I ask for special help for those who ask specifically, and I ask for the strongest intercession for those who refuse to ask and who would throw it back in my face if they knew of it. From some of your earlier comments, I had placed you as one of the last type. I have prayed hard for you. Not for your conversion, though I would count that a great blessing, but only for a softening of heart and a willingness to communicate. The day I logged out I was thinking of you, though you personally were not the reason I needed a break (please don't think that). Imagine my surprise reading your progress since I came back. I would love to be of help to you, and anything that you want to know just ask. I am a fairly recent convert myself. I celebrated my first anniversary Easter 2002. Two years coming up soon. Though somehow I feel as though I have always been Catholic. I can't recall what I felt like when I wasn't Catholic. There's an emptiness there.

Thanks, Gabriel. Keeping my cool is something I have to work at. I have a very nasty temper, even though it has a very long fuse. I pray for patience daily.

I don't expect to agree with everyone here. But I think that understanding is not the same as agreement. I hope that we can all be honest enough to say, "Ok. I see where you are coming from. I cannot personally subscribe to that thought, but it's interesting to see where we diverge." I think that disagreeing with love is not too much to reach for.
