Thankful Hearts
Luke 7:36-50 Luke 7:47 ... her many sins have been forgivenfor she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
Think about this passage in Luke 7 where Jesus is anointed by a sinful woman. Simon is asked by Jesus, Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?
Verse 47 contains part of Jesus' answer - the one with the bigger cancelled debt, will love Jesus more - will be more grateful.
This principle also seems applies to pain. Look at 2 Corinthians 1 - sufferings flow - but comfort from the Lord overflows. It seems the more pain there is the more comfort from the Lord there is AND the comfort is bigger than the pain. If you've ever experienced the Lord's comfort, you know this is true. This makes for an extemely grateful heart!
Psalm 106:1 Praise the LORD. {Hallelu Yah} Give thanks to the LORD , for he is good; his love endures forever.
___________
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort! Thank You Lord for Your overflowing comfort. Help each heart come to You for comfort. Let each heart be grateful and pass the comfort that we receive from the Lord on to others. We lift each heart up to You, oh Lord, for Your touch. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
