I believe I am good again. I was at one point in official schism, but I feel the Holy Spirit calling me back to the Church. Though I'm not thoroughly satisfied, I'm finding a lot of comfort in Pope Benedict and his writings.
 God bless you & lead you always. :)

Hi brother,

:hug:prayers for you.

Have you ever looked into writings of the Saints? I think many of them are really helpful.

I think Pope Benedict is very wise. He is pointing the Church in the right direction, and the problem is that not everyone listens. The Church is always being attacked by the enemy, but we know Christ has promised that it will not fall. "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."

may God bless you and guide you :)

in a traditional way though :)

Actually, he's very progressive toward new ideas. He was a key player in Vatican II reforms.

As he himself wrote, to see a need for change requires a progressive mindset to make it happen. A conservative prefers to keep the status quo.

I was also surprised when I read him quoting the Tao.

But there's a side to Pope Benedict, that many people don't see, because he was stereotyped as a conservative during Pope John Paul II's papacy.

Many conservatives saw him as the savior of conservative Catholicism, but if you look closer, such is not the case.

He's a Pope for all sides.

He is a thoroughly orthodox Christian with the most marvellous grasp of theology and of the spirit of the Christian message. It is hard to think of a more learned Christian. He is a man to admire and to listen to. He transcends the sort of pigeon-holes we sometimes like to put people into.

peace,

Anglian

I agree that he is not a two-dimensional conservative--and thankfully so, because Christianity is not a two-dimensional faith, but he's no re-inventor of the Christian faith.

But which Pope has been a re-inventor of the Christian faith?

Is Christianity suppose to be something that is in accord with our own image and those who don't fit that image, are not considered part of the Church?

What makes you think Christianity needs reinventing?

Jesus said leave everything and follow Me. We are continually emptying ourselves of the world so that He can fill us with His Spirit. Christianity is a "no-baggage zone" where we leave past beliefs at the door and come to learn at the feet of the Master. This isn't about forcing a particular cultural mindset on people; it's about everyone leaving the world behind and being conformed to the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16; Rm 12:2).

I don't, but I'm not the one who asserted that there was some one reinventing it. Go read the post I responded to.
