  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Texas law

That is why they have a hands free headset and also they have a universal attachement for cellular phones that makes it a speaker phone that goes in your car. I'm looking into getting that. I have the hands free headset but it's a pain....in the ear. I was just really happy that they are doing this. I can't tell you how many careless drivers I come upon with cell phones glued to their ear.

Are you sure about that, Trina? Greg said he was pretty sure it didn't pass... and he's a cop with a department that usually keeps their officers well informed of new laws.

I did a search on the Houston Chronicle website as well as one on the state website and didn't find anything either place saying it had been passed. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm guessing it didn't pass afterall. Bummer.

Hi all!

Driving & talking on a cellular phone without a hands-free set has been illegal here in Israel for many years.

Lucypevensie posted:

Bad for those people who talk and drive very well at the same time.

By definition, someone who is talking without some kind of hands-free setup cannot "drive very well."

I read somewhere that a study showed that someone who is driving & gabbing on a cellular phone without a hands-free set-up is as likely to be involved in an accident as of he/she were driving drunk.

A few years back, our national police chief was seen by other drivers talking on a cellular phone. When he got back to his office, he wrote himself a ticket.

Be well!
