Testing The Spirits

“I pursued my enemies and overtook them,​

And I did not turn back until they were consumed.​

I shattered them, so that they were not able to rise;​

They fell under my feet.​

For You have girded me with strength for battle;​

You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.” ​

(Psalm 18:37-39 NASB1995)​

We know that Satan is our enemy. And all who serve him, who work for him in opposing God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit – they are our enemies. For they are those who are going against the truth of the gospel in order to deceive the masses and to take them captive to the schemes of the devil. But our battle is not against flesh and blood. We are not to fight Satan and his hordes with the weapons of this world, but with the armor of God, which is the spiritual armor we are to use to defeat the enemy of our souls.

“Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” (Ephesians 6:13)​

We who believe in Jesus are in a battle of truth against lies. For Satan is the father of lies who speaks lies to the people to convince them that the lies are the truth they must embrace, and that the truth is the lie which they must now reject and cast aside. So, his goal is not just to convince the people to believe his lies, but his goal is also to get the people rejecting the truth of God’s Word as taught in the correct biblical context. So his messengers twist the truth of God’s word, in order to remove the truth, so as to speak the lies.

But this is not being done just in the spiritual realm having to do with the teachings of the Scriptures, but this is being done in the political realm of government over the people. For how many times have you been told to reject something someone said as a “conspiracy theory,” and told that you are not to believe it as the truth? How many times have you been taught that your government are “the good guys,” and all who are opposed to them are “the bad guys”? But what if all this is the opposite of what is truth??

We live in an age of massive deception! Lies and liars abound wherever you look. And in the USA we were (and are being) taught all sorts of lies from birth, to adulthood, and to old age. And we are being taught these lies in many of the gatherings of what are called “churches,” and in our public and private schools, and in institutions of higher learning, including in religious seminaries, as well as on social media, on the internet, and on Television, and via our heads of government and the news media and Hollywood, etc.

So, as followers of Jesus, we need to be discerning people who are testing the spirits against the teachings of the Scriptures, taught in their correct biblical context, and who are praying for godly wisdom to identify the “good guys” from the “bad guys.” For not all is as it appears to be. We are lied to so much, and even by “trusted” people, and by people who appear “godly” outwardly, that it can be difficult sometimes to know who is telling the truth and who is speaking the lies disguised as truth. So this needs much prayer!

Jesus Christ is gently calling

Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
