• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know about permanently - but *please* keep it on for now. TEs have been insulting YECs as a group in OT -- basically calling us uneducated fools being led by criminals. Then the TEs have been complaining when we get tired of it and post in here instead.

http://www.christianforums.com/t5250612-why-are-we-so-hard-on-yecs.html

I'm seriously thinking of scaling way back and/or leaving CF. On the other hand, I don't want it to appear that TE is the only reasonable educated position for someone to take.

I would absolutely LOVE it!

It has been so much nicer (safer) here lately!
I have been visiting more regularly since the restriction because I feel safer to voice my opinion without fear of being insulted or losing my faith.

The only thing is, instead of being confronted in the forum, I have received a couple of PM's asking me to explain myself.
Thankfully the exchange was short and polite or else I would have reported it.
Still, if I wanted to be confronted, I would go to their forum.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I'm enjoying the freedom from the seemingly repetitious attacks that some posters just can't help themselves from participating in. Then on the other, I do enjoy genuine questions and fellowship from many TEs. My vote, if I were to have one, would be for stricter enforcement of the existing rules. However, that doesn't seem like a viable option either because it hasn't happened yet.

I just don't see why it has to come to this and why this is so difficult for TEs. They know the rules and yet they continually choose to break them. :sigh:

For what it's worth, here were my suggestions from the original temporary protocol thread. I still think this is the way to go.

1. Do not challenge anything said; if a question has to be worded where it can be interpreted as a challenge take it to OT.
2. Questions should be asked only in an effort to better understand an outside position contrary or foreign to their own. Think of it like going into a foreign country and how one might ask.
3. If the need to bring a topic to OT exists, do so without posting a link or name unless previous authorization to do so is given.

I think its a great idea, so we dont have a ton of people flaming us over our beliefs. We could either use (OPEN) tags if we wanted discussion from non YEC, or post in in the Creation and evolution subforum. I think its a great idea, we need a safehouse every once in a while. In fact, I stoped checking up on the creation and evolution forums months ago due to constant flaming, so I will come back and stay if this rule is kept.

How do you feel about making the temporary protocol found here a permanent solution? This allows only Creationists to post in the Creationism forum.

Please only Creationists vote in this poll.

I strongly support it, it's the only way Creationists can talk among themselves. It was long overdue when it happened and a welcome relief from the constant siege.

Grace and peace,
Mark

In all the other subforums of CF, I have never seen as much ridicule, dissing, mockery, and belittling as goes on here against YECs. It is almost a given that it is acceptable to question the honesty, sanity, and intelligence of those who hold the view. Threads are always disrupted by interlopers who DO NOT BELIEVE that the Bible teaches that God created all things out of nothing about 6000 years ago in SIX DAYS. If you ask for biblical discussion it mostly comes down to showing "evidences" that the Bible is unreliable and impossible to interpret in any sensible manner. Attacks on the Bible are relentless, and elevating of THE SCIENCE OF EVOLUTION is paramount. The one is always put against the other.

SO, I for one, am all for keeping the protocols permanent. In fact, it is merely a reasonable enforcement of rules already in place, but if you want to view it as new protocols fine. Non-Creationists have never been permitted to post here, except fellowship posts. BUT experience has shown that they are largely incapable of a congenial fellowship post. There always must be some sort of snide sniping jab and mockery. They are helpless to cease from this habit. So, let them simply stay off here.

One visit for a fellowship post leads to further "friendly"discussion and then to ridicule and mockery. What fellowship do Creationists have with EVOLUTIONISTS on the subject of ORIGINS? None. If they want to fellowship, then let them go to the Resurrection section and ridicule that as UNSCIENTIFIC and LITERALISTIC.

... it is acceptable to question the honesty, sanity, and intelligence ....

I am amazed that TEs themselves don't get tired of it.

I would have to say that most did pretty well, shernren, mallon, assyrian, glaudys .... But there was a lot of mockery over here.
