I see, so it would be acceptable to have no accountability amoung the concliator team(since the ombudsman is who the conciliators serveat the pleasure of to begin with and also who the ombudsman is who answers to the CEO) but then if the same were done by staff it would be considered a nightmare and charges of 'staff running wild without leadership' would be occuring?

Surely you see the issue here without set leadership in a new venture like this. Secrecy and accountability cannot co exist can it?

I'm confident that the new system will work well, even in he absence of an ombusdman. The conciliator team are very well experienced and I'm positive they can be relied on to do the right thing.

We anticipate that they will not have a huge number of reports to deal with, and that most members will make good posts to the DR that can go through without any kind of bouncing. The reports they do receive will be worked on in a very positive way - with a view to getting the post ready for approval.

Overall, I am very optimistic.

Thanks naomi - but the concliators answer to no one but the ombudsman who answers to the CEO so i find it a large issue to not have that worked out and i am concerned about CsDans that they have no authority structure when its spelled out in our FAQ that they in fact do have one.

He didn't say they didn't have an authority structure - he said they didn't run on one.

If there is a problem with one of the conciliators and there is no ombudsman, send a PM to Erwin, or let me know and I will contact him.

How would i know if there was a problem any more than anyone would know if there was an inside problem with a staff member. Since the concilators serve at the pleasure of the ombudsman , if there is no ombudsman whose pleasure are they serving? It was the ombudsman position created to help membership and the conciliators arent junior staff members they are there to assist the ombudsman so obviously there needs to be one to oversee them and direct issues to Erwin as needed.

This is not really any more acceptable than it would be acceptable for staff to have no leadership and accountability

It is comparable to an Orthodox Affairs Director with no vote. The only power is the opportunity to give input.

But, yes, you do. Your opinion and your help that you give to the members, that is where the true power is. I'm looking forward to this new forum in which we all can work together and build bridges of communication and understanding and do what is best for CF members.

I'm not sure about the Omsbudsman and how that all works, but I do hope and pray that CF will have an Omsbudsman as soon as possible. (I'm probably misspelling Omsbudsman).

Based on what I'm reading.. things seem to be coming along well.. and sounding pretty good to boot. If you need more time, I don't see why you can't take a few more days to iron out the rough edges.

I don't see any members in any hurry for the new forum to open. There is an issue I plan to bring up regarding the spam rule. But there's plenty of time for that. I say .. 'take the time you need.'

I think Friday is a great target.

Just so y'all don't gang up on the Support staff, you should know that the Conciliators have just finished devising their protocol for this. That means that procedures and such now have to be developed for working with us. I think Tawny and Meh deserve a big round of applause for trying to get this thing on the road by Friday with all they have left to do now.

And AA deserves an attagirl for working on getting the forum and all the sub-forum open on short notice.

Please be patient. Everyone is doing the best they can. Really we are.

I'm not dead yet. I'm still the Ombudsman until a new one is named, and I have been online at CF nearly every day for a limited amount of time. I don't anticipate the transition to disrupt this project, though.
