  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

With nearly 30 percent of teens reported being sexually active, a non-profit group plans to mobilize millions of youth worldwide on Valentine's Day to make a public statement for sexual purity.

The second annual Day of Purity is a project of Liberty Counsel, a Florida-based public-interest group known for its legal advocacy for traditional marriage in key court cases over the past several years.

The recent NBC News and People Magazine poll reveals that that half of the sexually active youth engage in oral sex and 43 percent don't consider it as sexual intercourse, even though there are significant associated risks.

Liberty Counsel, however, is encouraged by another finding in the poll, showing 42 percent of teens who are not sexually active attribute that choice to religious or moral beliefs.

The Day of Purity is designed with that in mind, urging young people from elementary school through young adulthood to commit themselves to delaying sexual activity until marriage.

"Now is the time for every one who is concerned about the moral depravity of this culture to stand with our youth," said Mathew Staver, president and general counsel of Liberty Counsel. "Millions of youth have rejected the MTV culture. They want to be respected for who they are instead of being viewed as sexual objects to be used or discarded at will."
