Hi,

I work in IT, and in my church I belong to the "audio crew", I'm in charge to the website, and sometimes I help facing some technical issues.

I'd like to live in USA in a few years (2 / 3). Of course I think I would start with a secular job, but I also feel an "appeal". That's why I started biblical studies, I want to be "prepared", to have biblical knowledge, as it's important, whatever kind of ministry you belong to (I think so...).

So, I'd like to have some testimonies about people who work in technical ministries as a full time job, or as "volunteer" and have a secular job at the same time.

Thanks in advance for your comments,

GBY

Hi, you might be interested in seeing a huge internet ministries website at work? The one I'm aware of is Global Media Outreach.

They are seeing tens of thousands of people coming to faith in Christ through their websites gospel messages. They have over 5000 volunteers reponding to emails from new Christians and seekers. It's an amazing thing to see.

While I'm not in the ministry full time (although my heart truly has the desire, my family situation isn't really condusive), I have been given a gift for technical skills and have been able to bring this skill to our church.

A few years ago, I left a good paying full-time IT administration job at a major university to teach technology to the students part time. I also began part time teaching my hobby, photography, at our local trade school. I thought I was following my heart. There was still something I was missing, though. It wasn't until I began really rolling my sleeves up and volunteering at our church that I really felt fulfilled - when I was able to clearly make that association of what I'm doing with the name of Christ Jesus.

Now, I have produced a new, robust church website, have been granted exclusive responsibility of representing our church on social media, select a media video clip for adult sunday school and develop songlists and slideshows for our contemporary service based on lectionary readings. I have also had the privlege of creating special liturgies. Aside from educational and liturgical responsibilities, there isn't much I don't do. I can say that everything I've done (from reaffirming congregational relationships at our youth lock-in to working on outreach activities to feed and clothe our neighbors) has deeply touched my heart in only the way the Holy Spirit is able. I cannot say I've returned to the daily technical IT work, nor do I desire, since I've found the joy in Christ. I find it amazing in how the Spirit does lead us in ways in which we do not understand nor can forsee.

I do not get paid a worldly cent, but my spiritual reward is infinitely greater in knowing that I am doing everything I can to share the fulfilling joy of God's love and mercy with all I encounter. I pray God reveals some way for you to bring your God-given talent and love of Christ to others.

Hi,

thanks for the reply and testimony. I'm happy for you, as it seems that you've found how to serve the Lord according to your abilities.

I hope you'll be blessed even more, that your minister will develop....

For me, I'm thinking more and more about missionary...
