It's tax season. So I thought I would make a thread celebrating (or dreading) the occasion. Are you paying or getting back? This thread is for the discussion of taxes. And here's a Beatles song.

I'll be getting back as I always do. I claim 0 to be sure I get money back.

Although, there is a new form and my job wants us to fill out the new one, the government says we do not have to fill the new one out if there is no change from 2019 and you've been with the company since before Jan 1, 2020.

I owe a LOT of money this year. A whole LOT.

Inheritance tax, property gains from selling my Dad's house after he passed away, and the first year I've had taxable income in almost a decade.

It's taken out of pay before it even hits your bank here. Can't imagine having to do my own taxes, too stressful!

Ours is taken out as well, but that's not enough. No, no...we have to go through and refigure all the taxes, because...doing it right the first time just wouldn't be very American (said with sarcasm)

I will be getting money back but that is only because I have had too much withheld. Job changes, kids graduating from college, and medical leave made it impossible to determine what was the correct amount to have them withhold.

Tax amount that we each owe is the same whether or not you get anything back from overpaying.
