Hola!
Surely previously discussed in CF but starting a new thread as I am always fascinated with other people’s point of view, advice, opinions....

Get one, don’t get one, why yes
Why not, does the Bible specifically talk about it.

Go! (please and thank you :congrat:)

Tattoos are pretty worldly. You can't donate blood if you got a tattoo because hepatitis and HIV concerns. They're a permanent vanity item.
I believe this does not apply in all states.

Whatever the case on that, as someone who got a tattoo and later regretted it, if you're thinking of getting one I'd suggest getting a long lasting temporary version and see if it starts bothering you being there.

I heard someone on the radio say he couldn't donate blood because he had tattoos. But I didn't follow that up.
Current CDC guidelines are a three month wait, which is much shorter than previously. With improved sanitation standards and the ubiquity of tattoos it’s likely to go away entirely in the near future.

I think the original design of the human body is pretty spectacular. I think tattoos spoil the original work and do nothing to enhance it. If God forbade the Israelites from getting tattoos, why should we think He's come around to thinking it's okay for the rest of us now?

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord. - Leviticus 19:28

I have a body in great shape! Why would I need to print any markings on it?

If you want to look good

Go to the dog pound... Buy yourself a dog... And take the poor thing for daily walks. Above all things limit the time you spend on your lazy back sides!

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. - 1 Peter 3:3-4

My (possibly incorrect) understanding is that Leviticus was specifically talking about marking/cutting one's body as part of pagan rituals for the dead. I think this is one where the intent really matters. Although I don't have any tattoos, I don't think there is any real issue with it.

I will say, from my perspective...just as how we dress and how we behave, what we say and how we treat others. It all depends on the intent.

For example, my reason for a small tattoo on my shoulder or wrist would be a reminder of the fear and love I have for the Lord. A little cross. A short meaningful Bible verse.
Something along those lines. :)

I'm not a fan of tattoos. If someone wants to get one or a million of them, then that's up to them.

But I often see attractive women with tattoos who have diminished their physical beauty in my opinion.

Some years ago a bloke came to us for help (Saint Vincent de Paul Society) and he was absolutely covered in tattoos. They probably cost him a few thousand dollars.

Having said that, a former member of our Vinnies group said she was in a car accident some years ago. The person who got her out of the car was a passing bikie (biker to Americans) and in her words "He was absolutely covered in tats!"

So you can't judge a person by their cover, tats or not.

If anyone must have a tatt, it should be in an inconspicuous location. I wonder if anyone tattooed on their face, neck, hands. or other obvious location can find employment in a lucrative profession, i.e., law, medicine, dentistry, engineering, or the upper echelons of business or education,

And consider what a tatt might look like in 40-50 years:
