  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

few verses i found....

Leviticus 19:28 AMP
"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor print or tattoo any marks upon you; I am the Lord."

1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

John 14:15 NIV: "If you love me, you will obey what I command."

1 John 5:3-5 NIV: "This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."

Gump, the subject has been discussed MANY times with both pro and con points.

There are a few people that misuse scripture to say that they're bad but the overall consensuses is , it's up to you and your discretion. As long as they don't effect your walk with Christ then no harm no foul.

Seriously do a search and you'll see much more info then you ever hoped to

God is concerned as to the motives of getting a tatoo.

Is it for vanity's sake.
Is it to make oneself appear tougher.
Is it to increase one's self confidence.
Is it peer pressure.
Is it because we like the image and want a permanent copy.
Do we just like the concept of Tatoos.

It's not the act that is the issue, it's the reasons why we act that God wishes to address.
If a Tattoo is a desecration of the temple of The Holy Spirit, then so is junk food, makeup, deoderant, driving cars and riding bikes, mobile phones, etc.

Do we NEED Tatoos ? NO !
Do we NEED to wear certain clothes ? NO !
A Tatoo is not a necessity, it is a desire of the heart.
Is the desire okay with God ? That's between God and the individual.

If we are willing to obey God and trust Him with our whole lives, we can take anything to God and ask Him for His guidance regarding ALL matters,
and He will show us the reality of ourselves, He will show us what's really going on under the surface of our lives.

If we are brave enough to allow Him though.

How do yall fell about tatoos. I have a friend of mine who just got one, and is still trying to prove to him selve that thier aint nothing wrong with them. Please give me book chapter verse where it talks about body markings.

It sounds like you've already got your mind made up.

I don't know of any scripture that condemns tattoos, in and of themselves.

Leviticus 19:28 AMP
"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor print or tattoo any marks upon you; I am the Lord."

Right and what you have to remember is that this verse specifies that's it's talking about people cutting and tattooing "for the dead".

1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

Remember, this passage is speaking of fornication, not tattooing.

John 14:15 NIV: "If you love me, you will obey what I command."

This is what is commonly known as a "non-sequiter". You post a quote from Jesus saying that we should obey His commands, and we should, but He hasn't commanded anything here.

Again, this has nothing to do with tattooing.

I applaud your appeal to scripture but out of four examples, only one of them has anything even remotely to do with tattooing and that verse makes it clear that it's talking about one specific kind of tattooing.

I really do not see any problems with tatoos. I do not have them. But if a christian brother has them, ok. I am not making friends with the tatoo I am making friends with the person. This is just a bunch of surface stuff don't allow the surface stuff determine your friendships. In all don't judge a book by it's cover. It vey chilling when "christian people" make snap decision on people because of the way they look. In all I will agree with oldrooster.

If you're gonna paint up the walls of the temple, you best ask the owner if He minds. If He says "go for it"...then go for it.

You'd show at LEAST that much respect to an apartment you were renting. Why would the temple you live in but don't own deserve any less respect?

Thats the way I figure it.

I think tattoos are okay. Well, obviously if the tattoo were of something offensive, there would be a problem there. But I have friends who either have or are planning to get a tattoo of a cross or something of that nature as a way of expressing their religious beliefs to the world, and I think that's 100% okay. What sort of picture/design did your friend have tattooed?

You are so right Trench777 ! *hits forehead with palm of hand* DOH !

Funny how we forget to ask the Master about stuff sometimes.
Considering that when we truely give our whole life to God, it does mean that everything about us is His property.
He is Lord of every part of our lives, so of course we should ask Him first , as oldrooster does.
