I bought this on Saturday after trading in some games. I have to say I'm a little disappointed. The story is nothing new (not that it's bad). The battle system is not to my liking, though I know others have raved about it.

My thing is that when I'm in an RPG battle, I like to have complete control. With most Final Fantasy games, you control every party member. In an action RPG, you usually only control one player. In this game, you have 4 in your party, but you only control one of them. I find it hard to get to know the other characters in your party when you only control one character the whole time. It is similar to one of my only beefs with Kingdom Hearts, though I loved Kingdom Hearts.

My recommendation would be to rent the game first. If I had, I probably would not have bought it later. But now that I have bought it, I'm going to get to know the game and enjoy it for all it's worth.

My score 7/10

I just got this game as well, AWESOME is all I have to say.
I kinda understand the whole gripe with only controlling one character at a time, but you can link 2 special abilities from any characters to the C stick, as well as bring up a menu, with the Y button, during battles and execute anyones magic or abilities if you choose to. The game is kinda like an action/turnbased RPG hybrid.

Hum, I thought about getting this Game, I have heard great things about it at the nintendo forums, should I rent it first or just go and buy it? I Love Rpg Games but I don't know if my allowance will stretch that far. Which would you all recommend?

I'd recommend buying it. It's got a very fresh battle system that you won't get bored with. The game is about 80 hours long even if you don't do all the side quests. Also, there's a New Game + after you beat it so you can get all of the secrets you couldn't get the first time through and trust me there are a lot. If you can get some friends over you can even play 4 player during battles, which is pretty fun. I know I won't be tired of it any time soon.

It is, and it isn't.

Etoychest hated the battle system of 12, and I for one noticed they do know what they like, and don't like. I tend to agree with them. They don't allow themselves to get caught up in hype, or seem concerned about saying somthing about a big series and generating flack.
