  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Being a student, i thought taking the bus to college, is convenient, I don't have to pay for insurance, and the gas. I think I need a car, cause I feel this nostalgia whenever i take the bus. The bus stinks like [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]. You see depressed faces. The bus driver is so rude. I got on the bus, presented my pass, however my wallet has many flops, I got the wrong one, it took 10 seconds to find the right one, the bus driver is like you should have dealt with it beforehand. I'm like my pass is in the wallet, what do you mean i should have dealt with it beforehand. I could see the impatience in the tone of his voice. He said that while the person behind me, bumped into me and just went by me. Its not like that people behind me were waiting much longer. Why the rush. I didn't mind the person behind me, but that bus driver got on my nerve. Its like he was asking me why did you waste 10 seconds of my time.

Not the first time, the people got on the bus. The bus front door was still open for passengers to come in. The light changed from red to green, the driver shut the door on this lady while she was trying to get on. I seen that several times.

Another time, the bus driver gets off to Tim hortons. Then, you see him having a lengthy conversation with the bus driver on the bus up front. I wait for them, why don't they have the patience for the passengers. Thats what gets on my nerve.

When people get on my nerve, I ask christ to help control my emotions, but often i ponder upon it, cause it happens repeadtely, than enough is enough, then i say what i have to say.

First of all, what do you expect from a bus ride? The driver has a schedule he is required to keep and yes, you could have had your bus pass out before getting to the front of the line since you knew you needed it to get on the bus. That is called common curtesy. The driver also has schedule breaks which is probably what happened at the Tim Hortons. I am sure that if you have had a job, you have had those too. I think you are expecting too much out of a simple bus ride. This isn't a school bus where it is the bus drivers responsibility to take care of the riders. His job is to drive the bus safely and keep to his schedule so that he doesn't get in the way of other drivers or messing up the schedules of riders who have several bus changes on their journey. If you feel that inconvenienced by the bus, then pay to have a car: the insurance, the upkeep, the gas, parking, and whatever else. Then be grateful that you have the ability to have the choice.

Yeah - I have to agree with blackribbon. Having your proper pass out BEFORE going thru the door is important. The drivers get marks against them for messing up the schedule. 10 seconds for you and 10 seconds for the next 5 people add up to a whole minute behind. That times how many stops? Too much of that can cost a driver his/her job.

There was no line in front of me, I was like the first person. I usually get out my pass, when I'm on the bus, always find my pass in the wallet in one of those flip flops. I always keep the pass on the first flop. However, my wallet was tangled up because i purchased something before taking the bus, I didn't notice. I showed my supposed first flop, the pass wasn't there. I was like where is my pass? When i found the right one, which is like the last flop, the driver like you should have presented it beforehand. People would still have to wait if i did that before I got on the bus, as my wallet was reversed, still the bus driver would have told me the same thing. I know they are in a hurry, but I have seen bus drivers talk to and wait for passengers for like 6-7 minutes, and they are telling me to hurry up. The buses don't even come on time anyway, transit system is terrible. There is nothing i could have done. The best thing is to keep a separate wallet for the pass, but thats no excuse for being impatient for like 10 seconds. I know they have a busy shedule, but there late anyways. I usually wait longer than usual for these buses to come, and they tell me to hurry up. I see the same drivers alot, who are constantly late, I don't see them get fired.

The bus drivers in my city are much more passive. I used to see people mess up all the time when I took the bus, and the bus driver just waited. Unfortunately, that's probably because of the potential for violence. :confused2:

Obviously, you have never worked in the service industry. If you knew you were getting on the bus after making the purchase, why didn't you make sure it was right? And if they are running late, it makes it okay for you to make them later? I kind of doubt you are privy to which drivers are getting written up and fired. Drive your own car and then it doesn't matter what your wallet looks like.

Why would someone look at their own wallet before they get on the bus, when it takes a split second to show their pass? It was unfortunate that the wallet was messed up due to a purchase i made at a grocery store, before i got on the bus. Its not like it happens everyday. Then why would someone like you, make a deal out of it, saying unnecessary things like i'm holding the line, when it wont matter. Ten seconds isn't going to change anything. Bus drivers stall the bus for the stupidest things like a conversation with another bus driver. Waiting for them should be even more frustrating than the bus driver waiting for a passenger for like 10 seconds. I should be the one telling them your late and to stop stalling the bus.
