Taking perscription Vyvanse

I struggle with my use of the perscription drug Vyvanse, it alters my mood so extremly. I was diagnosed with ADD and Vyvanse does improve my focus. However it is a controlled substance and I feel there is a war going on in my soul. I need help to understand, does God consider me committing a sin, when I am taking a strong perscription as Vyvanse.

If the prescription was legally prescribed by a doctor, there is no sin in taking it. God gave doctors the ability to help others!

During World War Two the government gave pep pulls to soldiers to help them fight better. After the war benzedrine (bennies) were popular with truck drivers. Speed is the generic term. Dexadrine was a popular weight loss pill in the 60s. Cocaine was popular in the 70s with the dance and disco crowd. In the 1980s schools began to declare the reason children didn't do well was that they had ADHD. It was found that children put on speed did better in school.

It is interesting that everyone blames the child rather than the school. School is boring. Giving children drugs so that their bad behavior born in boredom is more manageable by teachers is like drugging inmates so that prison guards can have it easier.

There is no diagnosis of ADHD other than behavior. There is no pathology. There is no disease. There is no biologic abnormality. There is no "chemical imbalance". The assumption is axiomatic that if you do not do well in school, you are defective and need to be drugged.

In fact almost everyone does better with pep pills. Students can stay awake and study longer and harder. There is often a speed component in LSD that produces a teeth gnashing and hand squeezing effect that are also associated with being wired.

If you are over 18, you may want to consider not taking the drug and consider that God did not make a mistake when He made you. Doctors are allowed 6-7 minutes with a patient and they generally give people whatever they ask. If a parent takes a child to see a doctor because the teacher told them the child was ADHD, the doctor is most likely to write a prescription and get on to the next patient.

If you are under 18, you may want to research ADHD on the Internet and find information that may convince your parents that you should stop, cut down, or switch to a non-narcotic medication.

Speed is not as likely to kill you as some other drugs. There are some things you can accomplish with it. It can help you lose weight. However, if you want to live a more natural life, you may want to try to find a way to live without it. In the Bible the word sorcery is used for the Geek word "pharmakeia". This is mostly because drugs were often associated with some of the many false religions of the ancient world. Today most drug usage falls into the same category as alcohol. Any sin usually lies not necessarily in the drug itself, but in how and why it is used.
