Taking A Knee

I open up the doors
I walk on down the aisle

I take a knee at the alter
and I wonder if you're there

I just have a few questions
and I don't know the answers

I'm just curious to see
if you would care to help me

Will you be there when I'm hurtin'

Will you be there when I'm lost and uncertain

Do you hear me every night
when I'm on my knees and prayin'
Will you always be that eternal light

I feel someone touch me
I stand up and turn around

I fall back down to me knees
when I realize it was you

You reached into me and
I can tell my heart has changed

I only asked a few simple questions
and now I'm glad you answered me

I get up off me knees
and I head on up the aisle

I see all of the faces
In the pews on each side

They're all staring at me
Blinded by the light

I continue out the door
and I begin to soar
