The Pope’s intentions for the month of October include a prayer for synodality

October

For a shared mission
We pray that the Church continue to sustain in all ways a Synodal lifestyle, as a sign of co-responsibility, promoting the participation, the communion and the mission shared among priests, religious and lay people.

That is how is should be. We are the Body of Christ and all parts of the body work together

It seems that the majority of attacks on the Christian faith come from changing the language so that the evil can seem good and the good seem evil.

We have the word gay which used to mean happy and carefree now mean homosexual. We have to word which cannot be printed on CF but sounds like eff ay gee, which used to mean an ember that has separated from the main fire or a cigarette is now a slur. We have a natural distaste for desecration of a holy act now called a phobia. I am sure that there are many more, the list goes on.

We now come to synodality, which when you think about it is a really good thing; however, we have been lead to believe, when we hear the word, to think of reversal of Church teaching and the Catholic Church becoming a democracy as are our unfortunate separated brethren. Is that is what is going to happen? I mean we have the promise that the gates of hell will not prevail. What is going on?

We know that Satan is smarter than us, and he knows that he cannot defeat the Church, but he can lead individuals souls astray if we are not vigilant. He is a roaring lion seeking whom to devour after all.

He does that like a magician. A magician uses distraction to get the audience to believe something that is not real. Satan will get one trapped in the past because the past is so beautiful and the present is in chaos. He will get you to believe that he owns the Church so that your only option is to leave or rebel. He will make you feel so inadequate and frustrate you so that you just do nothing.

The only thing that man is given that is free, is our free will. We can choose to fall for Satan’s magic show and allow ourselves to be paralyzed, or we can have faith in the word of God and fight on in the spiritual battle

Synodality is one way we do that. I know Francis is a troubling Pope, and I am not going to say everything is good and he is really a great man, but he is the Pope. As Catholics we are duty bound to holy obedience. To break away is schism, which is equally as grave a sin as heresy, because we do direct injury to the Body of Christ.

We need to stop looking at the magic show, and look to God. Are you involved in your parish or do you stay alone or only with friends and family?
Do you have a disciplined prayer life? Do you have a spiritual director? Do you talk to your priest? Do you go to confession regularly?

If not, then we are as the Church in revelation that left its first love. As Christians we are called to bring ourselves down and not be a respecter of persons, for the glory of God. (If any man come after me let him fist deny himself take up his cross and follow in my foot steps, he who saves his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for my sake the same will find it). We do not follow his footsteps on the path to life by bringing the Church down or scoffing at her.

We embrace synodality as we are a communion of saints and the body of Christ. We raise our voice to defend the faith once delivered to the saints not turn our back on it

If one part of the body is hurting, we cry out and others will help us. If we leave or stay silent there is nothing that can be done

Peace be with you
