Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok, I've seen a lot of talk around here about gays being "turned straight" through Christ.

Well I have a question. Could straight people turn gay? I mean if allegedly it works one way, it should work the other.

So straight people, do you think you could be turned gay?

like bobo the chimp, I read here they are born that way?

God doesn't change anything. If he didn't want homosexuals to exist then they wouldn't. Period. It's not like people go out and "catch teh gay" or get addicted to it like drugs. But people can change their behavior and get really good at hiding and/or suppressing things. If properly motivated you can pretend you are just about anything.

Yes, I believe that gays can turn straight and that straights can turn gay. Could I, sure if I applied myself I think I could turn gay, sort of. I don't think that I could every stop being sexually atracted to women. However God say homosexuality is a sin and I'm getting willies just thinking about trying to turn gay so I won't go any further.

You find the very idea of being attracted to annother man repulsive. How could you possibly "apply yourself" and make that go away?

You admit that you dont think you could ever stop being attracted to women. So it would seem you dont think you could turn gay.

If its so difficult for you, what makes you think its any easier for gays to "turn" straight?

can you back this up with scripture or is this simply you wishing things to be different in order to validate falsehood?
I don't hold scripture in any authority and since God, as you imagine him, doesn't exist then he going to change anyone. I know you think he can do anything...but he doesn't.

no i don't. but don't confuse living a gay lifestyle and having gay sexual urges. they are two different things from a Christian point of view.

I think it's very difficult to change either way. Maybe it's possible for some people, but I know that I was heterosexual for as long as I can remember, and probably always will be. I'd imagine the same would apply for homosexuals.

Believing scipture to explain god, when you believe god gives scripture authority is no only laughable circular logic, but exactly the wishfulness and wilful ignorance you ironically accuse another of.

How exactly would you apply yourself in order to become gay? Bear in mind that the question was not 'could you sleep with men?' but 'could you become gay?' The two are totally different things.

Which lifestyle would that be?

If you mean that sexual activity and sexual orientation are two different things, that is the case in common sense, not just a Christian point of view. In fact, it seems it is largely Christians (not all, but some) and other religious people who either lack basic cognitive abilities and cannot distinguish between the two, or are wilfully ignorant and choose not to.

There is no "sort of." You either are or you aren't.

I don't think that I could every stop being sexually atracted to women.
Then you wouldn't be gay. Turning gay doesn't mean having sex with a man. It means being sexually attracted to men. Being a hetero, you cannot force yourself to do that, anymore than a gay can force himself to be attracted to women.

the gay lifestyle is living in acceptance that one would engage in sexual acts with one of the same sex. having gay urges is not the same as living a gay lifestyle.

God can do anything. Man, by his own strength or lack there of can do but nothing. Man, relying on God's power.... boundless.

Shenanigans. I'm going to need proof of this. What evidence do you have that god has actually done anything? All we have in this case are countless personal testimonies. Those are, unfortunately, not worth their weight in manure. On the other hand, there are countless testimonies from ex-gays who say they were never really "ex" gay. As has been pointed out already - people can become very good at covering up the truth... I should know. I was in that same boat before I came out. The bottom line is, there is absolutely zero evidence that god can change anyone. Zero, zilch, nada. I refuse to believe that people can actually modify their sexual orientation - behavior, yes, orientation - no.

It's really hard (read impossible) for an unbeliever to be blasphemous. Heretical, yes. Blasphemous, no.

so if sexual orientation cannot be altered, we should just summarily execute pedophiles, rapists, polygamists, etc is that what you are saying? None of these illegal sexual orientations can be changed so why send them to jail huh?

You also need to show how the testimonials from homosexuals carry more weight than the thousands of testimonials from Christians as to how God ahs worked in their lives. Let's see, who am I going to beleive?

I keep telling you I'm not ignorant. I fully understand your belief and realize it's not real. What part of that don't you understand?

I find that impossible to believe. You have to be ignorant of Christain beleif, either that or you are being intentionally dishonest.

You posted
If he(sic) didn't want homosexuals to exist then they wouldn't
Obviously this is stating that you know what God has written. I simply asked you to post the scripture where you gleaned this personal knowledge from or stop making claims that are blatantly false. Basicly, either you are ignorant of thwhat the bible really says or you posted a lie, which is it?
