Hey is switchfoot still a Christian band? becouse one of my friends told me they are secular now and only doing secular shows becouse they pay more money, but i think to be a true Christian you would have to sing the message of God regardless of the money and what other people think of you!

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

thats totally true im glad u said some thing about it they used to be such a great band but the choose the worldly thing over the almighty creator

Or you could think of it that since they're in the secular industry, they'll have a wider audience, so they could reach more people.

Switchfoot are still Christians, and are even still doing Christian Shows.
I really like their stuff, and I got into them because one of the band members (Jerome) is a member of one of my favorite groups of all time, Mortal (aka Foldzan, Juggernautz)

I really like Switchfoot as well, and have to agree with the previous posters.. There's nothing that suggests to me they are any less of a Christian band.

If we judge whether or not people are Christians by the hour or so we spend with them, looking for them to mention God's name or pray, we will label many, many, many Christians as non-Christians.

Just because you don't say Jesus over and over in your songs and pray after every single song does not mean you are not a Christian band!

I think they are still Christian. I mean, I saw them in concert last weekend, and it just seems like they appeal to a wide variety of people, not just Christians. But the way they acted and sounded seemed like they were 'wholesome' or whatever if that made any sense.

I got in an argument with someone this summer about wether they were christian or not. I think that they still are but they are probably down playing it a little bit to atract a wider audience (or not offend people, however you want to look at it).
