  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Okay...I know you're out there! Who loves Switchfoot?

 ---ME!!!!!!
Well, I re-formed my prison ministry band a month ago and we did our first concert last Saturday. My guitar player recommended some switchfoot (I'd never heard of them) and we played three of their songs. The band is me on bass, a drummer and a guitar. We play strictly juvenile centers because the drummer is only 19.

Well, the kids went nuts this Saturday. They were yelling "hey, that song is on the radio!" The lyrics are very powefull ( eg. This is your life, are you who you want to be.), especially for the under 21 crowd in our institutions. It segues beautifully into the message of Christ.

These guys are a great compliment to the lyrics in some of the Third Day songs. We'll be picking up much more of their stuff for our next concert in September.

Switchfoot is a good group, I have two of their CD's. Their CD's are pretty good, but their performance, that I saw was just a beautiful letdown. It was not great, Jon was getting into it, but It felt like none of the other members wanted to be there. I realized this summer how important it is to involve the crowd. Switchfoot gave their poor performance, and then I almost left, but Audio Adrenaline was next, I stayed figuring I would listen to two songs, and I was hooked for the whole thing. They brought people up on stage, went out into the crowd, to have people sing. It was probably the best concert I have ever been to. In closing, yes Switchfoot is a good band, but as one of my close friends said they are a studio band.
