  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think it is good to learn to swim. Here lessons can start from birth. Certainly most kids who go to lessons seem to start at about three.

I took mine swimming when I could but swimming lessons were too expensive. Sometimes I have managed to put my kids on one of the 5 session courses they run over the summer but these are geared mre for swimming to standards rather than swimming for suvival and pleasure and are also expensive.

We put our daughter in a swim school at age 5. She did 2 "terms" there. Was that expensive! It was a really great program though. Water was 90 degrees, there was a max of 4 students per class, you got to go down the waterslide at the end of the class:D. It was one of the best things we did for our daughter--it really helped her climb out of her shyness shell.
