A New Dawn
I crossed the bridge and turned around
My look it told me; I am bound
A group of autumn trees;in full bloom;
Courting leaves; at high noon
And as I see them; over there
My thoughts they turn; paths of care
I slowly count; the years they past
Standing sturdy; shadows cast
The first year; the memory there
Giving much pause; frightening scare
And the first autumn tree
Stands out; with you on bended knee
And as I count; the trees are there
The thoughts and memories; cannot bare
The light it shines; the die cast
The past it comes; hauntingly fast
And as each autumn tree passes my glance
I realise it marks your journeys advance
Each tree symbolising a year past
Another fall to endure; eyes down cast
And as I reach the last tree
Eleven are gone; counted by me
I realise that the paths end
There is a bridge; a rivers bend
A symbol of your journey past
Of enduring the thoughts that last
And on the other side; autumns gone
A green grove of trees; a new dawn
I crossed the bridge and turned around
My look it told me; I am bound
A group of autumn trees;in full bloom;
Courting leaves; at high noon
And as I see them; over there
My thoughts they turn; paths of care
